I always come to this place when I go to GR. I read some other reviews and all I can say is don’t follow foolish suggestions about getting a double bourbon or whatever… if you order a double at Anchor you get the same drink and get charged double.
High recommend as a good dive bar to hang out at. Music can be a little loud and it can be a little crowded at times, but that’s really what makes it a good dive bar. The drinks are always well priced and the bouncers are pretty cool. Great pregame or postgame spot for a night out

Anchor Bar is the quintessential dive bar for Grand Rapids. If you haven't been, you definitely should! Cheap drinks (made strong as they should be) with good music and shows on TV. Plus great service and a surprisingly good Old Fashioned. AND dog (and cat!) friendly! Being downtown on Bridge, parking is limited to mostly paid lots or the few (paid) parallel parking spots.
