Oldest operating bar in Michigan good people and a good time everytime one of my favorite watering holes in the county and I've evaluated juke joints and clubs from flagstaff to Florida it's on the top of list ?
Old time country town tavern! Shiels in Hubbardston MI. boasts the title of Michigan's first liquor license! Worth a stop off if you pass this cute little town, stop in and you'll be home!

We went to the dam to go fishing and stopped here after. This place has the oldest liquor license in Michigan. The staff were kind enough to tell us the history, as well as show/describe the pictures on the walls. They made a couple of out-of-towners feel very welcome! We did not eat, so I could not score them on that, but I gave them a five because the drinks were served in chilled glasses, and the beer was ice cold. I'm so glad we made the pit stop!!
