This place is the real thing! Probably some of the best fried fish I've ever tasted. It's basically a food truck but the food and the staff are awesome!

The people who gave this place 4 or 5 stars must have lost their taste buds! My husband and I each got the 5 piece whitefish baskets and it was the driest, most overcooked, most tasteless fish we've ever eaten. I could only eat 2 pieces and threw the rest away. They charged $1 for 2 extra small containers of tartar sauce, saying, "it's homemade!". That is laughable, as tartar sauce consists of 3 or 4 very basic ingredients: mayonnaise, relish, lemon juice and dill! And their "homemade" tartar sauce tasted just like any other tartar sauce I've had or made. The fries were okay, but they only gave us a couple packets of catsup so ended up throwing much of the fries away, too. This "meal" cost us $40 with tax and tip. Waste of money. I would not recommend this establishment. Go to Muldoon's and get yourself a Pasty instead!

Fish tasted pretty good, but we both got sick later. Maybe old fryer oil? There were also lots of flies around the seating area. Not their fault but pretty annoying if you want to sit and eat.

Best fish and chips I had so far! Cap'n Ron's is a food truck with a few tables in front and located on the side of the road. Nothing fancy but the fish is fresh and delicious. A must try after your trip to Pictured Rocks. FYI, they only take cash.

Was recommended here by our pictured rocks kayaking tour guide who grew up in the area. He said he saw them fishing that very morning! So fish must be fresh and it tasted very fresh. We got the fish basket with the trout and 3 pieces. And we definitely got more than 3 pieces which is very generous of them! Fish was cooked perfectly and the fries were excellent. Coleslaw was nice and refreshing as well. Food came out really fast. There were 3 tables in front of the truck and parking near the truck was easy to find.

2nd time coming here in 2 years and both times the food was excellent. Today we got the fish dip with fresh made pita chips along with the basket of fried trout, fries and coleslaw. Trout was fresh and delicious and pita chips are out of this world. I'm super picky about coleslaw but Cap'n Ron's is amazing !!!! 10/10 !

This is the food truck to go to; the best whitefish in town the couple next us had the trout and the whitefish they said the trout was better! We will be going back to try that as well. Portion size was great as we had the whitefish Ruben with a Cajun tarter and fries!! We found this as we heard a local say it is the place to go. I would 2nd that as a visitor!

The food is always fresh (and you can tell it is fresh), mouthwatering and appetizing! You get many condiments to pair with your food, including homemade, savory, coleslaw. Even Gordon Ramsey has came here and had nothing but compliments! There is a variety of food to choose from, so you will be able to enjoy something here even if you dislike seafood. I highly recommend this to everyone, you'll love it. This has been my favorite place to eat on vacation in the UP (maybe even the whole Michigan) and is the perfect place to grab food before or after sightseeing/hiking. Everyone who helped to take my order, prepare the food is extremely nice and makes you feel so welcomed. Even better, there is a golden retriever that greets you and keeps you company (if you dislike dogs, he will not bother you if you don't interact with him first). This place is right along the lake. Eating here was the highlight of my trip and I can't wait to come back.Tip: If you enjoy seafood, I would highly recommend fried fish basket, the fish sandwiches, and the fried trout. The chicken strip basket is perfect for people who don't enjoy seafood. The french fries go well with everything! The complimentary coleslaw is perfect for dipping seafood, chicken, and fries.

To be 100% honest about our experience, we came to get fried whitefish here because of how delicious the white fish at Scalawags in Mackinaw was the day before. Unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected. It was very small pieces of fried white fish (about 2 inches in length) and fried with the skin on. The fries are battered and crunchy, so they are delicious, but we had expected way more for the fish. Sadly not what we hoped for.
