Gotta agree with Nicole Boguslawski's review: the place seriously has a vibe.Frankly, it's like taking a step into the past, for better or for worse. The place's history definitely supports that; having been a capstone of that areas local community for decades. Interesting stuff if you know who to talk to.Beyond that, the staff know their stuff and as down to earth as you could hope for. The salad bar has everything you could want and more from a small town diner-slash-bar-slash-hotel (with adjacent corner store). I haven't tried everything on their menu, but the liver and onions and the biscuits and gravy (two absolute *must-haves* in a good classic restaurant) are really good. Going to have to retry the biscuits soon to see if they still hold up.For research purposes, of course.Parking: Challenging to find parking close to the building because it was historically catering to a small clientele and is currently boxed in by housing and sharing a wider lot with a hotel and convenience store. Parking is generally available within a reasonable distance, though.Wheelchair accessibility: The building's entrances have wheelchair accessible grading, but the entrances are manual and can be difficult to open in inclimate weather.

First time ordering burgers (to-go order). Got home to discover there was nothing on our burgers (just meat and bread). I called to asked if this is normal. The lady who answered was the same lady who took my order and said she “forgot” to ask me if I wanted anything on the burgers. She told me I can bring my food back to have the toppings added. Whitlows is close to my work and convenient to pick up dinner on my way home. I am not driving 30 minutes out of my way to having toppings added to our burgers.

Had the BEST experience here tonight. Our waitress was Wendy. She was AMAZING. Super friendly, on point with everything. Anticipated our needs(sauces, drink refills) before we even asked. We will be back sooner rather than later because of her.Kid-friendliness: Waitress Wendy was amazing with the kids :-) plenty of choices for the kids
Good family restaurant. It was busy sonit seemed like food took awhile to come out but food was delicious. I had the grilled chicken salad and it was all very fresh. My husband loved the generous portion of walleye.

Nothing special. Prices average, amount of food less than most others. Near the end of both my husband's and my plates, we both had a long wavy piece of hair. Kinda freaked us out. Both of us, not one of us. My steak tasted pan fried, although flavor was good. Wished it was grilled. Baked potato was teeny weeny...about 4-5 bites. And the salad bar is minimal. Atmosphere older, but clean. Style older but maintained. Staff kind and nice and the gal that waited on us was good. It was just OKAY... not recommended. My hubbies fries were gross he said. Not done enough...he wanted chicken strips but they were out of them. He got a burger. I kid you not ...it was small...it left an inch all the way around bun to be filled. They forgot his bacon...it was 1 pc. Ripped in half to cover the burger. Wasn't impressed.
