“The dude working Pizza Dude tonight was THE Pizza Dude. Even if he wasn't "The Pizza Dude", to my partner and I, he hit more than a home run. It started with the witty banter on the phone. I knew off the bat this was going to be an experience. Even the train got in on this party action like a, well, train, and the rave just took off from there. I'm a recently-reformed Yooper. Just came down to the better half of Michigan a few days ago. From a place where the most exotic flavors come from Taco Bell and the sparsely-placed Chinese buffet which has been taken over by the paranoid 'Murican. Where the most refined palettes are trained by canned pasta sauces and murdered by overuse of Tabasco and black pepper. Me: "How long do you need?" THE Pizza Dude: "How about 30 minutes?" Game on. 2 deep-dish specialties (cheese steak and BBQ chicken,) and 2 orders of breadsticks. Through the wind, rain, and lightning I braved M-13 with my map into town. Across the very train rave tracks until I found the hole-in-the-wall place. The realm of The Pizza Dude. The plain interior is deceiving. the counter proudly displays a simple LEGO version of the joint. It's literally cute, adorable if you will. A cork board has community support. in the far corner stands a small community blessing cabinet, overflowing with dry goods for share and free trade among those who come to it. All good karma in one room. My Dude kept up the conversation while going about like an absolute madlad. I normally tip well, but by the gods, he more than earned it tonight. pizza and sticks fresh off the oven racks. There is nothing better. I felt like a pirate braving dangerous seas, bringing home her precious treasure. It smelled divine. Had it not been a potentially fatal risk, I'd have gone Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in my front seat and ravaged those succulent foods right then and there. The breadsticks were divine. So soft. So fluffy. The only criticism I had was the "nacho cheese" was little more than reheated Cheez Whiz, both in consistency and flavor. Normally I dont take white sauces in the mouth. The cheese steak pizza may be making me change my mind on that. I can't quite place it, but combined with the crunchy, yet amazingly fluffy crust, cheese, and toppings it was an explosion of proportions that left my face hole more wet than when I started. The BBQ chicken was even better. The meats tasted smocked and grilled. The sauce was light, yet pronounced and sweet. The cooked crunch of the onion. It sent me over the edge. My taste buds were quaking and quivering, begging and screaming "NO MORE!" But didn't want it to end. Alas, my stomach vetoed further ingestion and I had to stop. I was left in a satisfied heap. Drooling, heaving, fully satisfied. With leftovers for tomorrow, and a second round to look forward to. 20/10. Will order from again.”

“Visited recently & I have to say the service was excellent and the waitress was so kind! We’ve decided to make a routine to drive 1.5 hours once a month, just because of the excellent service. The food was also amazing! I got the Prime Rub Sandwich & my friend got the Rodeo Burger with tots. I don’t even like tots, but wow! They were also delicious. Coming from the U.P., it's obvious that the care the ladies put into the care in their small franchise chain is well above the bar. The Yooper chains just cannot compare!

I would *not* recommend ordering delivery, at this time. Deliveries are handled by DoorDash, and Dashers come up out of Bay City. While I usually try to show love to my Dashers, it's a major craps-shoot whether or not your order will be delivered in a timely manner. If at all. Yes, there's a story there:

I placed a delivery order on 9/28. An hour later, I call the store to ask what's going on. The Manager tells me that no Dashers took the order. Irritating, but not world-ending. I live across from the old Deer Acres, so I go to pick up my own order. She even offered to take time out of her day to deliver it to me herself! I wasn't about to make her do that! I didn't know how busy they were.

The ladies there were absolutely the NICEST, most understanding people there at the store. They were empathetic, and apologetic (it wasn't their fault, and I knew that!) And we tag-teamed DoorDash to eventually make things right for DD 8n dropping the ball. Funny thing: the Dasher ghost-arrived just 2 minutes after I picked up my own order! 🤣🤣🤣

As for the food: The bread is phenomenal! It's not too sweet, and you can taste the actual flavors of the bread and ingredients. These ladies know how to build a sandwich!

Subway calls their employees "Artisans". These ladies really are! Dedicated mistresses to their craft. Perfect proportions of ingredients sandwiched into the bread, so not one thing is overpowering or underrepresented.

Burger King's "Have it Your Way" motto doesn't have anything on this location. Your sandwich can be built as YOU like it, to absolute perfection.

“Parking: Parking is very limited but my biggest complaint is that two of us drove 45 minutes to pick up lunch. When we got there at 2:30pm and asked for calzones they said they were out.(only 1on display )Which we were willing to wait for more to be made but they refused. The woman behind the counter was rude and very lazy.”
