Yesterday we recently visited Firehouse Subs on Westnedge Ave in Kalamazoo to celebrate our son’s birthday, his choice and it turned out to be a nice experience. He had been wanting their subs for a while, so he was especially happy we went.

We dined in and the atmosphere was standard, clean, casual, and comfortable. The food was as expected and consistent with what you’d expect from Firehouse Subs.

What really stood out was the service....

Single best Italian sub I've ever eaten, and my new favorite food of all time. I will remember that sub in my dreams, utter perfection. The staff was goofy but fun, little lacking in customer service for some harder fellows that came through but no big deal. The atmosphere gave off a dingy firehouse vibe but I found it slightly off-putting in a way I can't fully grasp. The price honestly felt cheap at 11.50 with tax for an 8 inch. At first it felt a bit pricey but then...

usually i love coming to firehouse subs, for the delicious food, and friendly staff. However this time was different, the two staff members working today were too distracted by watching a movie on the television to make my order… i understand aladdin is a great movie but please do your job while you’re working.
