This is what Random Road Trips are all about! We stopped at Shelbyville Tavern and had the best time. Our server, Lisa, was so friendly and made the stop even better!

An amazing Bloody Mary 🍅, some delicious mushrooms 🍄, and a friendly local tavern—what more could an RRT ask for?

“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I grew up eating at this little gem, and even though I now live out of state in Georgia, it’s still a must-stop every time we’re in town. It’s become a tradition—my kids talk about it for weeks and always ask if we’re going. The food is consistently incredible, but the homemade bread and the hash brown casserole on the griddle are truly unforgettable. Everything on the menu is delicious! A huge thank you to the wonderful owner and staff who always make us feel taken care of. This place feels like home every single time. Highly recommend!”

“Absolute gem! We came in for the singing contest. The place was packed out. Their staff worked their butt off to get us a spot, serve our big party all night long. Hayley is amazing and she runs all night long with a smile! The owners were working just as hard to keep everyone happy. Food is amazing, drinks are wonderful and we will come back over and over again! Great job Russos!”

“I have a sister-in-law from Otsego that brought down the wonderful incredibly phenomenal blueberry cinnamon buns and I would highly recommend those best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had and now coming from Paw Paw to head to Otsego just to go there and experience more of their food. I can’t imagine if you pass this one up don’t and any opportunity you have be sure to go there ,You will not regret it.”

We ordered Steak and Eggs with an added pancake and Countryfried Steak Breakfast.

The country fried steak was perfect! It was not a prebreaded frozen steak. They handbreaded a tenderized steak just like I grew up eating in the south. You cannot hardly fine a handbreaded steak in this area. You can bet I will be ordering this again.

The Steak and eggs were very good. The steak cut like butter and the taste was a beautiful rich beefy flavor and so tender.

The pancake came out as thin as a crepe. We thought we had mistakenly ordered a crepe. However they immediately with no hesitation replaced it with a thick fluffy one that tasted wonderful.

You will not regret visiting this wonderful restaurant, nor will you leave hungry. Want to try the fried green tomatoes next time.”

“I called the other day to see if they were open Thanksgiving they said yes I asked if we could make a reservation he said yes how many people I told him and he said we'll see you Thursday I get there today they're not even open Thanksgiving he don't know why whoever answered the phone told me that so here we are scrambling to figure out what we're going to do for Thanksgiving now because it's so late”

“My husband and I have tried several pizzas as well as subs and wings etc.. We have never been disappointed with the quality of the food or service. We drive a half hour to get it because it’s always worth the drive.”
