Today was my first time trying this restaurant. I had the taco salad, a double cheeseburger and the fried ores. All were wonderful. I’m from Kalamazoo but I attend school at Kellogg, so I’m in town 3 days a week. I’m definitely going to return and try more items from the menu.
excellent BLT, cooked just right
great food, fresh lettuce and tomato, very good onion rings, and tasty chili.
service was decent as well, I'll go back...
...but I'll sit somewhere else, I'm a bit too fat for the booths 🤨

The atmosphere is reminiscent of a classic diner, featuring swinging chairs that evoke nostalgia. Customers appreciate the clean environment and the friendly staff, who are accommodating even during busy times.
The menu includes a variety of options, including vegetarian and vegan dishes, which have received high praise. Notable items include the plant-based dog, vegan chicken sandwich, crispy chicken sandwich, and the buffalo ranch chicken sandwich, all of which are described as excellent. The fried pb & j is also a standout favorite.
While the service can be inconsistent, with some customers reporting issues such as being overcharged or needing to ask for basic items, others have noted the staff's willingness to help, especially for those requiring accessibility. Overall, Mr. Dons Restaurant is a great spot for casual dining, with delicious food and a nostalgic vibe that keeps customers coming back for more.
