If you do not have tastebuds then this is the place for you. I am highly confused by all the excellent reviews. Although the 80’s atmosphere made you feel nostalgic and warm inside, the food disappointed my tastebuds to no end. The fillet was the worst fillet I have ever had. I am pretty sure that was nothing near to a tenderloin steak. I am not sure what it was but it lacked flavor, seasoning and all the love a good tenderloin comes with. It also had a very strange aftertaste that I am still puzzled by. Food was extremely overpriced. We had a party of four and the dislike was felt around the table. Super disappointed and feeling a little heartbroken over the money we wasted. I would take your bum and steer it away from this place.

I used to live in TC and ate here often. I’ve been gone for 12 years and was thrilled Modes hadn’t changed. (I realize some who don’t know the history might not like that but for me it was a pleasant nostalgic experience). What I love is they aren’t trying to be fancy…. It’s good basic food, unpretentious & the service always feels down to earth. It is exactly what a great local place should be.

It was alright. Expensive for what you got. The steak and potato soup was better than the actual steak. The steak was tender, just not a lot of flavor. Service was good and friendly. I was expecting more for the price.

The server was incredibly kind and accommodating which makes it hard to leave a bad review but the food was absolutely terrible. As expensive as everything is on the menu, I was expecting some quality but everything lacked flavor and was either under or over cooked. Started my meal with rotten ketchup (which we weren't compensated for besides offering a new plate) and warm coleslaw. Prime rib dip: no flavor, up charge for mushrooms and onions and the au jus has zero flavor. Steak sandwich: flavorless and the mushrooms were cold. Burgers had no flavor (not even salt and pepper and it's a steak place...) and they were over cooked. Besides the taste of the food...most of our meal was heated behind the bar (including the burgers) and not a single person washed their hands or wore gloves after serving drinks and doing other things around the rest of the restaurant. We ate because we were starving but getting a $150 bill for a meal that didn't serve a single good bite is pretty frustrating. Actually, I can say, the appetizers were good, polish sausage and motz sticks but still not worth what they charge. This restaurant is absolutely living off of its old reputation. I wouldn't reccomend to a single person.

First thing is they have one handicap spot for an entire parking lot. I am fully disabled and have a large walkerWe walked inside after fighting with the 2-in lip at the door open. The door and three waitresses are looking right at us talking to each other but did not acknowledge us for a minuteIf you notice they have cheap almost computer desk chairs with rollers and fold out tables this is in no way a high-end steakhouse restaurant It looks more like a Coney Island that is serving $50 steaksJust a cheap looking place and not to mention that no handicapped accessible areas at all really should call the ADA on themAlso, I noticed that the tables are so close together that when somebody's walking by your table, they're rear end or front end is going to be leaning over your plate and over your table. And I'm sorry that's not the kind of pepper that I want in my foodSomebody's butt pepperthen I realized that there is no way in hellThat I'm going to get my walker in through this restaurant to even sit down and eat because it is not handicap friendlyThere were maybe 12 inches of clearance between these tables. There was no way I'm getting a walker that's almost 2 ft across anywhere in the building. I almost couldn't even leave because it was so crowded and not with peopleDo not go to this place if you're disabled as you can't park and can't maneuver into the building to get to a seat due to overcrowding

There's only one handicap spot in the whole parking lot. The tables are too close together for a walker or wheelchair to fit through. It was almost impossible to get a walker in the door and once we made it that far we couldn't go any

My husband and I love going out to eat at Mode's. The food is always spectacular, the service is superb and we always know we're going to have a nice, relaxing dinner. I recommend it to all my friends and anyone I know who is coming to Traverse City from out of town.

I wanted to love it, especially with the prices. My wedge salad was DRIPPING in ranch to the point I couldn’t even eat it. My baked potato was small, dried out, a little burned. It was only lukewarm so putting butter on it wasn’t an option. My NY strip was flavorless and burned on the edges, so the only flavor I got was the burned flavor. My son’s egg rolls were burned to a crisp and although his sandwich looked good he said it was flavorless as well. The fries were good and the waitress was really nice :)

One of my top five restaurants and all of Traverse City. And they're open late.... Update December 2023. Prices went up a little bit but you can still get a wedge and a petite steak for $20. And it is
