Excellent! J&S Downtown was our go-to-place for an occasional breakfast, but it closed at the end of October. We've passed Willie's Rear, but had never been there. It's exactly the kind of plain, old-fashioned, breakfast diner that we love. Affordable prices (you can get by for less than $10 per person) and nice portions. The bacon was especially good. It was nice that they have multigrain toast, too.

Stayed over in Traverse City on a road trip. Googled for diners with stools at the counter and Willie's came up. Showed up to learn counter stools are reserved for regulars but the waitress let us sit there anyway.

Prices completely reasonable.

The guy cooking is not friendly. Doesn't even acknowledge you with a nod.

Great food, great place to enjoy coffee, conversation, and remove yourself from the distractions of a cellphone. Everytime I'm in TC I make a point to stop and have a coffee and breakfast here. 10/10, would recommend.
