“In a word WONDERFUL. We came upon Brengman on a whim and a sign as we were heading to Mission wineries and stayed. After a less than stellar wine experience at a winery that shall not be named, we fell upon Brengman. We spent some time with Ben, who was engaging and knowledgeable. We tried an assortment of whites and reds and fell in love with the Chardonnay Cement and Right Bank red. We left with bottles of both and a new wine club membership…. Worth the stop….“
“Hawthorne Vineyards is one of our favorites on the Old Mission Peninsula. There is nothing pretentious here as they maintain a humble and inviting atmosphere. It is ideally situated, offering breathtaking vistas of both the East and West Traverse Bays, with views extending over the vineyards. Inside, you will find a horseshoe-shaped bar area and ample table seating, complemented by a spacious outdoor deck featuring various high and low tables and a cozy fireplace. Additionally, there is lawn seating available, where guests can unwind in Adirondack-style chairs while enjoying the serene setting and stunning views. A wide selection of Hawthorne wines and wine-themed gifts are also available for purchase. We highly recommend a visit to this remarkable location on the Old Mission Peninsula. high and low tables and a cozy fireplace. “We had a fantastic time at this spot – the service, food, and drinks were all top-notch! We really enjoyed our cider and wine flight during our visit to the old state hospital. For food, we tried some delicious small plates, including the Whitefish Pate and the Charcuterie Board. It was hard to pick a favorite cider, but Cinnamon Girl and Tepache were both incredible and truly tasted like autumn. We even left with a growler of each!“
“Beautiful winery, amazing service, and a beautiful view!“
“Can we talk about coming here in the off season? Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Just add snow with the view from the bar and it’s amazing. Lighter crowds more locals less obnoxious bachelorette parties. Fantastic reds! Good enough to bring me back the next day for a glass before we departed. Do yourself a favor and come up here in the winter.“
“My boyfriend and I did the barrel room experience and absolutely loved it. You get to try 6 different wines and enjoy a delicious charcuterie board for 35 per person. Our guide was very knowledgeable and attentive. I was impressed by the value of our dollar. The stone walls and relatively small square footage created the perfect cozy and intimate venue for a romantic night out. I will definitely be doing this again.“
“The view was pretty. My family and I got charcuterie board snd the flight. We also got the desert wine. Everything was yummy. I brought the bottle of desert wine and a wine glass to take hone. Looking forward to going there next year.“
“My husband and I had a wonderful experience on the patio with Heidi and Annie. Heidi was so helpful and very gracious to me in our selections and accommodating to my allergy to gluten. We felt very welcome the most welcome in all of Traverse City.“
“Lots to see and do at 45 North Winery.“
“Our love story started here on Old Mission Peninsula in 2020. Little did I know that 5 years later, I would also marry my husband here. Bonobo holds a very special place in our hearts and is one of our favorite vineyards that we visit each time we come to Northern Michigan. We are also wine club members here because their wine is our favorite!
We made sure to stop here on my bachelorette party in June. All my bridesmaids understood my love for Bonobo!
It only made sense that 2 days before our wedding in August we would host a private family dinner here too in The Library Room. The food and service was incredible - the attention to detail throughout planning the decor, the menu, and the wine selections! Couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Then the night before the wedding, my husband and I decided to make one last stop at Bonobo after our rehearsal dinner which was further down the peninsula - our last drink before becoming husband and wife. Our photographer of course came along and got some of my favorite pictures of the whole weekend here!
Then on Saturday, our ceremony was at St Joseph Catholic Church (right next door from Bonobo). Many guests had a glass of wine after the ceremony at Bonobo and enjoyed the views of the vineyards and the bay before our cocktail hour + reception at Delamar.
Bonobo, you’ll always be a very special place to us. Cheers to our love aging like fine wine!“
“My husband and I have been going to TC for our anniversary every year x 11 years. Black Star Winery by far has the best white wines available. Tom befriended us the first time we came to Black Star and we come back every year just to say hello and catch up. Good friends, good wine, it doesn’t get much better than that!“
“I like this winery because the staff pays 0 attention to you, which is a great thing in my opinion! You can wander around and do whatever you want. Lots of seats outdoors. I was able to see the grapes still on the vine. I had a riesling, very good. Not bad prices for a flight. around 20 bucks for 2 people.“
