Before we moved to Troy, my family and I used to talk about how amazing it would be to have a local ice cream shop the kind of place where everyone knows your name and the ice cream actually tastes homemade. Then, right in the middle of the pandemic, bam! Gilly’s opened its doors, and it’s been a dream come true ever since.
Gilly’s isn’t just an ice cream shop, it’s a part of our family’s story. The owners, Lanae and Kathleen, pour their hearts into every scoop. The service is always warm, the atmosphere is always welcoming, and the ice cream? Hands down, the best we’ve ever had, creamy, fresh, and scooped with so much love.
They’ve become a staple at our son’s birthdays, and now whenever he asks for ice cream, the first words out of his mouth are, “Can we go to Gilly’s?” 🩵 That says it all!
We’re so grateful for Gilly’s, not just for the incredible ice cream, but for the joy, kindness, and community they’ve built. Troy wouldn’t be the same without them.

I’m not one to leave long reviews but Gilly’s deserves it. I don’t eat much ice cream, but when I do have been going to other establishments until I found Gilly’s. The best thing about Gilly’s is the family run small business atmosphere. Walking in last weekend and seeing a mom and her daughters working together was refreshing and a great example of family run small business. And I may have forgotten to mention they have great ice cream. My Lab is also a fan. Keep it up.
