Hard to put a finger on what Maiz is. Service is generally really good, food is middling Mexican fare - above your run of the mill sit down Mexican chain restaurant but not going to leave you raving about the quality or authenticity. Drinks are ok, too. I guess the best way to describe it is I like going at Happy Hour but I feel like I'm just not getting what I'm paying for outside of Happy Hour. It's OK to good, good HH, so 4 stars instead of 3.

Was not impressed. The rice tasted like a "rice in a bag" microwaved. The beans came out of a can. I ordered the fajitas, the tortillas that were wraped in tin foil to keep warm, were greasy. At first, i thought it was just moisture, but, it was oily. The atmosphere was nice, but waitresses were in bike shorts with tattoos on legs. (Nothing against tattoos, but not in a food industry). I will not go back....They need some authentic recipes.

OMG, the best tex-mix joint in town. Best Happy hour margaritas & appetisers specials. Kids meals & outdoor seating on sunny days.

Our party of five enjoyed another fine meal at Maiz this past Monday. All the entrees were perfectly prepared and our server (wish I had recalled his name) was excellent. It's clear that the staff at Maiz enjoy their jobs and it shows in their positive attitude and treatment of their customers. Food portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. On this particular visit (at 5 PM on a Monday) the place wasn't too busy so the noise level was quite acceptable. We've been here during busier ties and the place can be quite lively so keep that in mind if you prefer a low-volume dining experience.

OMG, the spicy fajita burrito is unexplainablely good. Their chips are not to be trifled with or you may eat baskets of them. I love their food and finally understand why in the heck they are so busy all the time.

Carry out order was ready in 10 minutes. Cashier friendly. Food was delicious. Returned with 5 friends for a sit down meal. The ultimate queso fundito was a hit.Parking: Be prepared to walk from paid parking lot if having difficulty finding a spot. Definitely worth it.

First of all the service and margaritas were great! However the food isn't so good. The makes nacho that I ordered was REALLY dry. They baked them and the chips were scorched on it and the cheese isn't the traditional queso but Muenster so it all pulls off, not the cheese pull type of pull off. The baked avocados were amazing though!

The food was so good. You can tell it’s prepared in the restaurant, not trucked in and heated up. The chips are thin and light. And the salsa is also homemade and very flavorful. And the chorizo … to die for!The Ultra margarita was really good, too!

Taco Tuesday! What a place, what a deal. Tacos for less than three dollars. And don't sleep on the Tacos de Papas. I only got one, and I didn't save it for last. Mistakes, but not fatal ones. MAIZ is a big place, but we managed to land window seats. The day was ours! My partner and I took the chairs facing the street, and our friends took the booth seats opposite us. Beautiful view, comfy cushions. We all came out ahead. I also ordered a Fried Cauliflower Taco and TWO "Our Award-Winning Fried Avocado Tacos." Won't slip-up again. Next time, four Tacos de Papas. And I'll go easy on the free chips & salsa. I will!
