OMG when in the Virginia/Biwabik/Aurora area Carlson’s is a must stop for the Yooper/Cornish pasty! It’s a one meat-filled pastry meal! They’re so rich we had to split one between two people lol. I guess we’re light weights. It’s so fun to get a taste of local iron range culture. Pasties were the original Iron Range miners’ lunch in a bag. Get the one with rutabaga!
Hands down the best pasties I have ever had, and they're very large too. A huge variety of types and kinds of both pasties and meat sticks make for a great set of options for anyone. They also generally have fresh ready to eat pasties, which is great for those of us looking to grab one and eat at home (granted we are local, so we can do that without them getting cold), but they also have a few tables you can eat at at the store.
