Zawadi Restaurant and Event Center

I rarely write reviews, but I just had to share my experience at Zawadi Restaurant – this place is a hidden gem! The setup is similar to Chipotle, where you get to customize your meal. You start with a choice of three different rices: coconut, Somali, or saffron rice. Then, you can choose your protein – chicken, steak, or lamb. The toppings were my favorite😂😂. I did regular pico, mango pico, cucumber, and three types of hummus. Then some sauces to drizzle over everything. The food was sooo good! Omg! Everything tasted fresh and not to mention healthy. Highly recommend trying them.

Misleading pricing. The sambuus was listed at $2.50 but I was charged $3.00. When I brought this up, the cashier dismissed my concern, saying, ‘You’re the first to complain.’ Disappointing experience—I won’t be returning.

If you’re thinking about Zawadi Event Center, don’t hesitate to book them for your next celebration. My sister’s wedding took place here, it comes with catering and the food was delicious, all our guests loved it. The manager there is super patient and really hears you out depending on your concerns and he doesn’t only try his best to resolve an issue but makes it happen. I’ve noticed the day of my sister’s wedding there was an issue that came up with decor and extra tables, Zawadi Manager really took it upon him to go the extra mile to come up with a solution right away. I was very satisfied and happy with choosing Zawadi Event Center. They were very professional and were there for me and my family throughout. They honor professionalism, reliability, patience and are great working under pressure.

Thank you to the team there for running things smoothly for my sister’s wedding!

I work in the area and have been meaning to try for several months. The place is very impressive. Restaurant on the left, coffeehouse on the right. Very clean. The concept, African Chipotle. Pick a meat, rice, and then your choice of veggies and sauce. Very fresh and delicious. Could be a little spicier, but I'm a chiliphile. Coffee smelled amazing, but it was too late in the days for coffee for me. Cucumber lemonade was refreshing. Portions were huge! I'll be eating for lunch and dinner. And I will definitely be back. A lovely addition to the neighborhood!

First time checking out Zawadi and wow, what a place. I stopped by the event center then settled in at the restaurant. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with the peri peri sauce. The chicken is marinated and the flavor really comes out. Peri peri sauce was fantastic, tasted a bit like roasted tomatoes and herbs. I also built a chicken and rice bowl with feta cheese, roasted corn, chickpeas and beans, and peri peri sauce. Generous portions in the rice bowl and it was delicious! The mango drink was refreshing and delicious. Overall, Zawadi has some great food and I look forward to my next visit. Plenty to do here at Zawadi!

Please update hours, it says the place close at 10 and we came here at 8:45 only to find out that the restaurant closes at 8.

Generously portioned and full of delicious nutrients. Better than everything in the mall food court, by far.

We were staying across the street at the Hilton, and it was amazing having such great coffee and food right across the parking lot! Best coffee I've had in years, and loved the chipotle style restaurant with African flavors and the different sauces to pick from. Quick, tasty, I'm sad I don't live in Bloomington! This would be a weekly lunch if I did.
