Maria Bonita Restaurant Bar

We came to Maria Bonita today to celebrate my father’s birthday. It was not what we had experienced before with 4 milpas. The service was slow and things I asked the server for was never given to me. It was not busy either for there to be as many problems as there were. I ordered the chicken fingers for my son. It was mostly breading so I told them I didn’t want them anymore. They refused to take it off the bill, but were willing to exchange it for other food. I was not happy with that but didn’t want to turn it into a bigger ordeal so I agreed. I have never gone to a restaurant where they weren’t able to take an item off of the bill especially if the food was not ate. The food came at different times. We weren’t able to enjoy the meal together to celebrate my fathers birthday. For my fathers meal we asked for a mojara al mojo de ajo they gave us a mojara a la diabla. We waited for it to be remade and by then we were all done eating. When the mojara came out it was a regular fried fish not a mojara. We didn’t want to wait for another one so he just ate it. My father also asked for another Paloma what was given to us instead was a margarita, no grapefruit juice. We were going to wait for them to give him the right drink but once again it was taking long so he just told them it was fine we didn’t want a remake of the Paloma and he drank the margarita. When we asked for a manager a server came over. I have never gone to a restaurant where a server is a manager at the same time. When we expressed our concerns she asked if there was something that they didn’t fix and she apologized and hoped that the experience was better next time. But her attitude didn’t seem apologetic. When I looked at the bill I saw that they charged us for everything. So my father asked another server if there was a manager on duty and she said no but there was a girl that could maybe do something for us. I had tried to explain to her that we had already maybe talked to her but I thanked her anyway. The server that we talked to seemed to be more apologetic then that so called manager/server that we talked to. When she came back to talk to us about the bill she asked if there was something on the bill that we hadn’t consumed. I told to just take my card and pay for the meal. I was not going to go back and forth with a person who clearly wasn’t trying to fix the experience and give us the time of day. The experience was the issue for them to solve the food problem was the bare minimum. We all work in the restaurant industry and we are super patient and understanding but this was different. It was just one thing after another.

Reina was sooo sweet and patient, me and my friend came in and was very indecisive and she was patient and willing to help translate and look through the menu with us. People usually rush us so bless her honestly 🤍🤍

Hidden Gem. Stephanie provided excellent service and the food was delicious. Small venue but outstanding family culture with excellent food. Suggest you try it out if you stay in the hote district near the airport.

My husband ordered a octopus cocktail, the octopus was hard and chewy and over all it had no flavor, we were not going to say anything but we were asked why he didn't eat his cocktail, when we said why they called a very short lady from the back that came out very rude saying no one has complained... acting like we wanted a free meal..I told her we were going to pay and say nothing..but since they asked we told them why!!... I will definitely not be going back and would not recommend.. specially with that lady's attitude...other that that bartender was great 👍

Such a great meal! The food was legit authentic Mexican — fresh, flavorful, generous portions. But honestly, our server Paulina made the whole night. She was so friendly, gave us great recommendations, kept our drinks and chips coming, and just made everything feel easy and fun. Ask for her section if you can — she's the best. Will definitely be back!
