Nice BBQ spot tucked inside the VFW - it's not a standalone shop or food truck or anything. Service was good despite being very busy for bar bingo. Food came out fast and was tasty - the ribs were tender and smoky, and the pulled pork was very flavorful as well. The pricing was a little odd for meals vs a la carte pricing, and we ended up with more sides than we ordered, but everything was pretty dang good. The fries were the only real disappointment as they were a little overcooked, but everything else was a nice surprise.

As a certified KCBS BBQ judge, I am always wanting to try new places. Today it was Chad's brisket at the Grand Rapids VFW. Overall: pretty good!The meat was sliced properly across the grain. It is amazing how few people seem to know this is important. Flavor was good, though the meat could have benefited from just a little more fat (= flavor.) (Selling more fat = additional sales $ per brisket.)Not five stars because it was a little overcooked and a little mushy. Slices were quite thick, in contrast to the usual recommendation that they be about as thick as a wooden pencil. Strictly a guess, but slicing thinner may not have been possible because the overcooking would cause the meat to fall apart.I'll try the brisket again and update this review if necessary. In the mean time I don't think diners will be disappointed with the product.

best BBQ pork I have had in years! The baked beans are the bomb! They are Smokey, sweet, tangy and Delish. Would highly recommend trying.

I've been going to the wagon for years and went to visit their new VFW location and I absolutely loved it. The food is amazing and always super filling with some to spare! The whole staff are super friendly as well. I recommend it to everyone I know :)

The best Mac and cheese I ever had. Great people and they put out the best bbq. We always get the bbq ribs with Mac and cheese with the smoke bake beans.
OMG!!! I was looking for someone to cater my Mom's 80th birthday party. I had more than one person recommend Chad's. But, the party was going to be at a location 60 miles out of town. Hmmmm... I called him, asked him about catering, checked dates and then broke the news about the drive. Chad sez... "No Problem!" Then I asked about food, he said how about pulled pork, baked beans and smoked mac n' cheese? I'm sorry...did you say Mac n' cheese?!!! SOLD!!! Asking the price became an afterthought at that point, 'cuz, I LOVE Mac n' cheese!!! Fast forward to today. Chad showed up on time, parked that trailer right at the end of the sidewalk and had food ready right on time. It was sooooo great to just walk out to the food truck, get handed a box and go back to the party. No prepping, cooking or cleaning. More than once I heard..."wow...this food is good"!! AND... did I mention, we got to take the leftovers!!! Oh, I almost forgot... the pork was amazing, the beans were delicious and tangy, and the Mac n' cheese was perfectly al dente.

Full disclosure, we are vegetarians so we did not try any of the meat, BUT I am here to tell you their smoked mac & cheese was some of the BEST Mac we have had, and trust me, this family knows their mac! It was super creamy and the noodles had a bit of bite to them, not like some macs where the noodles are way over cooked and mushy. And if you are a french fry lover, DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE FRIES. my husband and I were in heaven. We were craving french fries throughout the pandemic and nothing we have had has measured up, today was the first time we had french fries that matched the fries we had been dreaming of. Hot and crispy and I believe they were hand cut! If we were from Grand Rapids I would weigh a ton and be following this truck around just to get fries every day. The guy was super nice as well, he offered me a taste of the mac (which really just turned out to be good sales). We found them up at Mount Itasca during a ski race, but the truck moves around to breweries and other places too. Check out their Facebook page to find out where they will be!
