“Considered a rite of passage for newcomers, The Royal Bar, or "The Royal," is a must visit. This former movie house has lived as a shot, beer and burger joint about as long as I can remember. The staff are stern, sharp and prompt. The hamburgers and fries always delicious and filling. Reasonably priced, steeped in neon, hardly changed in decades.“
“Stopped here on a Sunday after finishing a 10 mile hike in Lake Itasca park (Spike's is just outside the south entrance). The menu is pretty much just burgers, but man, they were great burgers. Mine had a BBQ sauce mixed with horseradish, bacon, american cheese and pepper jack cheese. Spiking the sauce with horseradish was an inspired choice. They give out $1.50 off chips every time the Vikings score a TD, too. The Vikings scored within 5 minutes of us getting there. Bonus. There are no taps, but they had 20 - 30 canned and bottle beer options. Super friendly service and very family friendly. The tables around us and high tops at the bar had three generations of families watching the game. Great place.“

“The atmosphere is great! Small staff and handmade ingredients make it great (sometimes that means a longer wait). The stocked salad bar is a plus! If you're there and it's busy, get a salad and a drink the food is worth it! The chef specials daily are great!“
“Me and my boyfriend stopped here the guy was taking our order when he was going to continue to take my order because we were together the manager stopped him and said he had to do one order at a time so one had to wait until we placed another order my friend's food was getting cold and melted by the time I received my food I liked the way he was doing it we could've been done at the same time there was plenty of workers nobody else was there just drive threw.“
“We come here often for the great burgers, fries, root beer and shakes. The food is better than any of the other fast food restaurants in town and a bit less expensive too. Plus they have indoor seating and wait staff! The only thing I don't care for is that you pay right when your food is served. Rather inconvenient if you decide to get dessert or an additional item later. Plus your food cools in the 2-3 minutes it takes to pay (if you use a credit card.) Otherwise service is usually fast and good. The place is well kept. Ambiance is casual and basic. This our "go to" burger spot! Tip: look for the daily specials!“
