Was planning a special family brunch here today. Called ahead at the weekend to check they would be open on New Years Day and was told definitely 'yes'. Gathered the family this morning and drove over there, only to find they were closed. Very disappointing after I went to the trouble to call several days in advance. Thankfully we found another restaurant for brunch. Downgrading my previous review from 5 to 3 stars due to this misinformation. Hot Plate was always our first choice for brunch so it was frustrating to have to drive around looking for an alternative this morning.“

“My daughter and I stopped in with no reservation while it was pretty busy and were seated right away. Our waitress was awesome and the service was fast. I got the Pork Belly & Biscuit- very delicious! My daughter got the Chicken Biscuit and she loved it! She isn’t a fan of honey but loved the hot honey that came with her dish ( she had it on the side to make sure she would like it). I was also impressed the coffee drink selection. Such great varieties! I had the Pistachio Cardamom which was so delicious. Also ordered the March special to go which was the Lucky Green Dream Latte- very delicious as well! Definitely stopping again when we are back in the area!“

“Wow! We just had breakfast at the Uptowner; this place is our new favorite for many reasons! Everything we ordered: pancakes, omelets, eggs benne and hash browns were some of the best we’ve ever had served to us. Our server was also so genuinely kind and attentive! “This rainy Wednesday was slow at Darling, but I predict it won't stay slow for long. Our food was superb. We shared a side of the amazing, perfectly roasted cauliflower (had the piri piri mayo on the side as it is spicy). My date had a cheeseburger and fries and I had the beef short ribs with breakfast potatoes (because I can't handle milk and there is a little bit in the polenta). Tasty key lime pie. Everything was very satisfying. Friendly staff. I'm so happy that great food has returned to this location.“

“Listen, they're busy. Ridiculously so! Went 9am on a Saturday. We knew it'd be busy and had no qualms sitting and waiting for a seat. Instead, there were open spots at the counter of the bar. We actually enjoyed sitting there watching "the hardest working employee in showbiz" as I called her. This young lady was frantic with her actions and yet so sweet when dealing with us. Now, had we been in any form of need to be anywhere else, the wait woulda gotten to us. But that we weren't in a rush allowed us to relax and enjoy the hustle and bustle. Amy made drinks for everyone, took our order, exchanged pleasantries, all while making the best fresh-squeezed oj mimosas I've ever tasted. I had the Eggy burger (very filling, little over cooked but still scrumptious). My wife had the Irish skillet with corned beef (canned, but still very good) and bloodies. My meal came with a very good southwestern tortilla soup which paired great with homemade potato chips. All in all, a very good experience!“

“Brother’s Cafe has breakfast all day! Best breakfast burrito I have had in years. Daughter said the French Toast was terrific. Husband thought the burger was great. Super nice people running it- stayed open for us when we showed up right after closing time. And they are going to start serving beer next week! Great addition to the neighborhood!“
