“Stopped into Ichiddo Ramen in Highland Park for lunch on a Friday and it was surprisingly quiet. I was the only customer up front, aside from a couple people in the back who seemed like family of the staff, so it had a very relaxed, low-key vibe.

I kept it simple and ordered the chashu ramen, and it was exactly what you want from a solid bowl. The broth had good flavor, the pork belly was well done and tasty, and the noodles had that perfect chewy texture.

Nothing over the top, just a well-executed, satisfying bowl of ramen. With tip, it came out to about $20 (just water to drink), which feels pretty standard these days.

Locals are the majority of the clientele but for all its grittiness, it's a safe place with patrons who care about the establishment! Watch out for the parking lot.
