“The way I think to judge la madre has been me and my partner’s desire to go back. We have now been 6 times and it has been open for less than a month.
The vibe of the place is transportive and relaxing. We particularly like the various brunch plates and think it is a great brunch spot. They need to get the word out because then the brunch deserves to be a weekend regular for the residents and visitors of the mill district.
The mixed drinks are inventive and good.
The individual food items very greatly. Ironically it is the tacos that are a slight let down. There isn’t anything wrong with them but they aren’t like next level awesome. The salsas are pretty good and are a smother liquid which makes them great as all purpose sauces. The items we have loved included the jalapeño poppers, the nachos, the burger, the chilaquiles, the tostada, and the various seafood.
I recommend that two people split the mussels an order of the jalapeño poppers and a side of rice to soak up the sauce the mussels are in.
Service has been great, fine, and meh. All across the board and I would think that is something that would smooth out. Great addition to the neighborhood and I wish them great success!

“Finally found a Mexican restaurant as good as the taquerias in California! The carne asada was well seasoned and the campechano taco with cactus was amazing. The California burrito was extremely large and had a sauce and cheese on the outside of the tortilla - that was unexpected. It also had BLACK beans, not mushy pinto beans!! A couple of the salsas had a good bit of spice to them. Definitely recommend!! Each table had real flowers in a little jar - that just goes to show that they are doing that little bit extra to make it nice! Also enjoyed the fried ice cream.
Parking: Parking is shared among the strip mall businesses. Although the parking lot was busy we got a spot right by the door
Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu. There is upbeat Spanish music playing and the inside just has a fun vibe in general
Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance is a bit of a tight L corner with an inside and outside door. I can imagine this could be hard to navigate unless the doors are held open. All the tables are fairly low down. The bathroom was a bit on the smaller side - one room with one toilet - with a standard door not a wide door“

“If you love seafood like me, this is the ideal place for you to visit fresh seafood all the time. ??
I had a mixed shrimp and octopus cocktail and it is the best I have eaten here in Minnesota. Really all their meals are delicious, the atmosphere, the service, everything was excellent!! Thank you“

“We love Rojo. Tonight, however, service was slow, even though it was quiet for a Saturday evening. Wait staff were making errors on our drink and food orders. Unlimited chips and salsa can't be beat. You can't go wrong with the chicken tacos and enchiladas. Round things out with a margarita or a Negra Modelo.“
