We had heard about this place "way out in the country" and were intrigued. We went with another couple for the adventure. There was not a single complaint from the 4 of us. I would have been completely satisfied with simply the cozy atmosphere, but when the 4 course meals started coming, we were all super-impressed. My husband and I have been wanting to visit the Dancing Bear for some time now. We finally made it this weekend and it didn't disappoint. It has a calm relaxing and warmly lit atmosphere where you feel welcome and not rushed. We enjoyed the soup, salad and homemade bread, pork loin with corn fritters and black beans and the red hot shrimp and peppers. It was all delicious. Absolutely worth the hour drive from Kansas City! Delicious food in a unique space: an old (disused) chicken hatchery with very friendly service. Bring your own alcoholic beverage. On Peacock Road with lots of peacocks around keeping an eye on things.
