Was in town visiting and I heard good things about Gates back in Chicago, so I had to try them out. Stoped in before heading to the Saints vs Chiefs game. Ordered the turkey on a bun w/fries and lemonade. The turkey was good, the fries were fresh out the grease, but they don’t season the fries, you have to salt them yourself. The total was like $20 so a bit pricey. The sauce has a sweet but spicy taste to it.
Pretty good. Got the mixed platter - ribs, beef and turkey. Ribs were tasty, meaty good texture and great flavor. Beef - brisket - was thin sliced and fatty. Good with sauce, but not on its own. Turkey was good, like it would be good on a sandwich, but not as good as I hoped. The fries were plain - ask for the seasoning! And the onion rings were great.
The food was delicious and fresh. The ribs were good and so was everything else. The chili wasn't my favorite. I've got a high bar there though. All of the employees were so sweet . A little pricey but you got VERY healthy portions. I'd recommend the brisket highly.
