Hereford House - Zona Rosa

I hope nobody that attends this place likes any seasoning on their steaks, we had a bill of almost $150, and there was not an ounce of seasoning on our steaks. Sides were great, dessert was great, but wow are we disappointed in those steaks.

I did not like the fact that I made a reservation for 2, only to be seated in the bar area where a busy bartender is my server. Also, the "carts" on the brick floor going back and forth to the kitchen and to all the guest tables is a very loud and annoying noise to listen to for our entire $200 meal.

I decided to give Hereford House a second try at a different location this time (Zona Rosa). I ordered a Kansas City strip medium; the first time it was well-done (no pink)! I don’t typically write reviews but this experience was particularly bad and I wished the negative reviews had swayed us from coming here. We came for my husband’s birthday and left disappointed. To start, we ordered mango mint lemonades from the drink menu. I should have known from the deer-in-headlights look I got from the waiter that he was unsure what I was asking for, but I hoped for the best. He brought us plain old lemonades (that I wouldn’t have ordered had I known what I wanted was unavailable). Food came out relatively quick which was nice. Two in our party ordered medium-rare prime rib and they both came out looking extremely rare. However, we are not the type to complain and send things back so they both attempted to eat them anyway, but quickly realized they were extremely tough and soon decided they’d rather cook them more at home because they were pretty inedible. When they shared the concern with the waiter, no apology was made and he instead told them they should have asked to have both cooked longer (valid point, though many people feel uncomfortable asking and it should have been done properly when they were brought out). I ordered the autumn harvest salad which tasted good but was poorly dressed (easily remedied with more dressing) and had only three tiny pieces of butternut squash. It also included lots of yellowing/mushy pieces of kale. My husband was relatively happy with his ribeye but noted that there were a lot of very fatty bites. On a happier note, we all really enjoyed the corn and cheesy ranch potatoes. We will not be returning.
