We ate here for the first time and everything was phenomenal! the food, the atmosphere and the vibe was awesome. I had the wonderful fried pork chops! 🤤 And that corn bread just melts in your mouth. No addiction butter needed. 🤌

Mama G's Kitchen Downtown is highly recommended by guests, with many calling it one of the best restaurants in Springfield. The restaurant has a very chill and cool vibe with jazz or easy listening music playing in the background. The service is excellent, with staff described as personable, down to earth, attentive, and phenomenal. The kitchen workers operate like a well oiled machine, clearly an A TEAM.
The food is incredible, with many comfort food options. Popular items include fried fish (the best ever tasted), fried pork chops, burgers that are juicy and thick, meatloaf (the best ever had, even converting a meatloaf-hater), catfish, and tacos with Mac n Cheese in it. Sides are fresh, delicious, and not an after thought. Standout sides include cheesey potatoes, mac n cheese, coleslaw, collard greens, and homemade chips. Appetizers like chicken livers (perfect, would return just for them), fried crawfish bites, and cheese curds are also highly praised. The corn bread is described as addicting, mouth watering, moist, sweet, tender, and warm. The banana pudding is also delicious.
While most experiences are great, one guest noted a significant service issue where the bartender did not place their order for nearly an hour and did not apologize. However, the food, including tacos, was still described as fire. Overall, the cooking brings back memories of home, and guests say they would eat there daily if they lived closer.
