“So happy we finally tried Yemanja! Waitress informed us we picked the perfect weekend to come because it's the last weekend Yemanja will be open in its current form. According to her, the owners are closing the restaurant for approximately one month and reopening as a Brazilian bar and grill with a different menu. I'm sure some regulars won't be happy about the change but I'm excited to try the new version of the restaurant next month. When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation (we did not) this caught us by surprise because the website doesn't mention reservations. It wasn't an issue and we were seated immediately. The restaurant decor is festive and a bit eclectic. We ordered the National Drink of Brazil and it was very strong but great. I loved it. The heart of palm empanadas for the appetizer were recommended by our waitress and I'm glad we ordered them. I don't think I've ever had an empanada, they were very good. The options for vegetarians are limited but the only entree I could eat was really good and filling; I couldn't finish it. Yucca fries, black beans with rice and greens. The greens were my favorite. Entrees came either soup or salad. We both chose the salad and it was a nice salad. The house bread was okay, it came the seasoned butter. My boyfriend ordered one of the seafood entrees with shrimp. He loved it. Cleaned his plate. We will return for the new version of Yemanja. Hopefully there will be more vegetarian options.“

“When snow shut down Saint Louis, Brasilia was open!! Chef Jorge graciously sat down with our party of 4 after a delicious, flavorful dinner: Appetizers: Coxinha (chicken croquette), Tostada de Camarao (shrimp sauteed in yucca sauce over toasted garlic bread) Split Entrees: Feijoada Dinner (black beans cooked with sirloin, bacon, sausage, served with toasted farofa yucca flour/sauteed collard greens/rice); Peixada (cod filet cooked in coconut milk, palm oil, herbs, also served with rice/vegetable). Dessert: shared Tres Leches cake slice Drinks: Espanola (red wine blended with ice/sweetened condensed milk), the famous Caipirinha, Xingu Brazil lager. Thanks to Chef Jorge, we learned a lot about Brazilian cuisine, traditional ingredients, and his country. The service from Ncenga was outstanding. The drinks were fantastic. Thank you for a wonderful experience!!“
