“I've lived in St. Louis for a little over 20 years and I've heard about the Capital Grill but never visited before. I decided for my birthday this year, we'd try it. I even offered to split the cost with my wife since I had heard it was expensive. Well, it was expensive, but sometimes you absolutely get what you pay for - I was blown away. We started with a giant piece of bacon as an appetizer (Nueske's Cherrywood Smoked Bacon with Korean BBQ). It was about 1/2 in thick cut into bite sized chunks and it was delicious! We moved on to soup, my wife had the french onion soup with was covered with a thick layer of cheese, I had the lobster bisque, and my daughter had the butternut squash bisque - all three were good. The lobster in my bisque was tender and flavorful. I had the 14oz KC strip, my daughter had the 10oz filet, and my wife had the roasted chicken breast. My daughter's filet was easily 12oz and it was cooked perfectly, my KC strip was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, and my wife's chicken was huge (and delicious since I ate her leftovers the next day for lunch). We ordered creamed spinach and parmesan truffle fries for the table. The sides were good but not as good as the other items. Next time (and we will be back) we will probably go with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. We split the cream brulee and the flourless chocolate espresso cake for desert and because it was my birthday they brought me a sample of the cheesecake and coconut cream pie on a plate with Happy Birthday written out in icing. I'll definitely get the cream brulee again, it was perfect and my wife and daughter loved the cake. Sometimes you just gotta splurge and when you get that urge - try the Capital Grill, you won't regret it. (And by the way, my wife ended up picking up the check - so maybe it was that expensive.)“

“Fleur de Thé is tucked along Juanita Street in Tower Grove Park. We were cared for by Tatiana, the daughter of the founder, and every recipe comes straight from her mother — and you can taste that lineage in every bite. The cucumber sandwiches were the quiet surprise: impossibly light bread and what was clearly a homemade butter that set the tone immediately. The scones with clotted cream? Honestly some of the best I’ve ever had — tender, rich, and exactly what a scone should be. Then came the sweets, and it was impossible to choose a favorite: A rose-flavored cookie that was delicate and fragrant without tipping into “perfume”. A spice cake made from their own traditional Indian chai (not an Americanized version), which I loved despite usually skipping spice cake. And a chocolate mousse so light and airy it felt like it might float right out of the cup. As if the tea itself wasn’t enough, the cherry blossom wall behind us felt like the perfect backdrop. Even the tiny gnome on the table added a bit of unexpected charm. If you’re looking for an afternoon that feels thoughtful, beautiful, and genuinely special, Fleur de Thé is something rare. See you next year!“
