City Grocery is a bustling restaurant in Oxford that offers a memorable dining experience, despite the occasional minor flaws. The food is generally excellent, with standout dishes such as the wasabi-crusted salmon, char siu pork belly, and perfectly cooked duck breast. While the pork belly leaned slightly towards being overdone, the accompanying scallion rice grits and sesame infusion added a delightful Korean barbecue flair. Desserts, including crème brulee, chocolate-filled profiteroles, chess pie reminiscent of Mississippi Mud Pie, and strawberry mousse, were also well-received. The service is satisfactory, with attentive waitstaff ensuring the needs of diners are met in a timely manner. Although the restaurant can be extremely loud, making it difficult for parties to converse, the overall quality of the food and service makes City Grocery a worthwhile dining destination in Oxford.
