muffuletta was amazing and the service was great
Great and unusual food that is expertly serviced and prepared. The Wine list has always been friendly for the prices, encouraging one to sample. The noise level is always robust, with sometimes a little hard to hear your table. Overall a very good dining experience with white table cloth, yet the clientele may enter with quite a variety of outfits.
We loved the food and cocktails. We had the crab cakes and Cesar salad to start. For our main course, we had the shrimp and grits and lamb chops. The crab cakes are a must, the shrimp and grits were just ok, they were not what I expected, given that we're from Lousiana. The lamb chops were awesome. The service is exceptional. We will definitely go back.

City Grocery | Creole • Southern is a popular restaurant located on Oxford Square, known for its good food, nice ambiance, and friendly service. Many visitors appreciate its cozy setting and the ability to make reservations easily online. The menu features well-loved dishes such as cornbread, shrimp and grits, and various sandwiches. The cornbread is especially praised, along with the spinach/artichoke dip, Caesar salad with Katamala Olives, and the blackened redfish sandwich. The soft shell crab and crawdad salad are also highlighted as excellent choices.
However, some experiences have been mixed. While the food is generally good, service can be slow, especially during busy times, which some guests found frustrating. There have been issues with overcooked dishes like the pork chop and lamb and salmon, and occasional delays in food delivery. Prices are considered high for the serving sizes. Despite these challenges, many guests feel that the quality of the food and the atmosphere make the restaurant worth visiting again, particularly for special celebrations like graduations or anniversaries. Overall, City Grocery offers a solid Creole and Southern experience with flavorful dishes and a welcoming environment.
