“I was visiting from Chicago my brother and his wife during spring break and one of my nephews Tracy of Smith Barber College on Hosptial Dr in Jackson, MS took us to lunch, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, to Maxine’s Old Country Kitchen. The quaint restaurant is located on Macon St. Walking through the doors the ambience beckoned us in. We were greeted by beautiful wait staff serving everything you can imagine. Beef tips, smothered liver, hamburger steaks in gravy, turkey necks, baked and fried chicken, green beans, lima beans, black-eyed peas, cabbage, okra, rice and gravy, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, turnip and collard greens, yams, corn muffin, sweet potato pie, cinnamon roll and peach cobbler. I can say the food was ON POINT! Very delicious and I did not add salt or pepper. Seasoned very well. We really enjoyed ourselves and had food to take home for dinner. Also, there was sweet tea, lemonade and kool-aid to drink. I pray GOD continue to bless your business. A hidden gem~“

“The first time I went to the big apple was in 2003, I had never tried a pig sandwich and it was awesome. It’s down 2025 and I’m looking forward to going back there in the year of 2026 just to get that old flavor again. In my opinion, everything about that sandwich was delicious.
