“Yeah this place was nice. Affordable good, good prices, nice busy staff hustling away. Clientele looked good. Nothing off putting. Simple and nice. It's a small village and it's important not to expect too much. I was happy eating here and would come back.“
“Well, the truth is that everything is very tasty and excellent service, the prices are affordable and the service is good. They should extend their menu a little more because I feel that it is very small, but for the rest, everything is excellent“

He created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which made a big difference to our visit.

“We dined at Onyx Bar and had an amazing experience. The octopus and shrimp tacos were absolutely delicious, and even the kids' nuggets were surprisingly good. We left feeling super full and satisfied. Our server, Gisele, was incredibly helpful and greeted us with a warm smile throughout our meal.“

“El taco de mole negro, aunque me pareció que era mole poblano, está muy rico, las tortillas son hechas a mano. El chico que atiende es muy amable y te da buenas sugerencias. Lo único que no nos gustó es que no tienen muchas opciones de bebidas. Solo había agua del día sin azúcar, y bebidas gasificadas.“

“Restaurant that looks like the movie "Coco" due to the decor, very nice.
Mayan cuisine dishes, excellent aperitif.
The rest good, but only for once.
It is located just outside Tulum.
Ample parking.“

“Some of the best food you’ll find in Tulum. We came here twice while on our trip and nearly came a third time if they weren’t closed that day.
Highly recommend trying the tamales and the corn elote. If you haven’t had Huitlacoxe before then I also suggest ordering one of the item menus with it. We had the quesadilla and it was to die for.
It is mostly outdoors so if you’re there in the hot season prepare for a bit of heat.“

“Wonderful family run place with outstanding food! A downtown gem!!
We took our party of 18 here for a last-day group celebration to end our vacation in Tulum. It was a diverse group age-wise (kids to older adults) and tastes varied widely (from seafood lovers to steak lovers). There menu had something for everyone. Outstanding ceviches and fresh fish, wonderful guacamole and salsas and perfectly cooked, delicious steak picanha.
Drinks had very nice options too, from small batch tequilas, beer and wine to mixed drinks.
But the best part of this outstanding experience was the warm, fun and gracious atmosphere. You could feel the warmth of the owners and staff. Live music and just about as nice of a get together spot as one could ask for. Maybe the restaurant could add some fans as it gets pretty hot! Thank you for a memorable last meal on our trip to Tulum!!“

“I had to leave a review for this restaurant after they were so kind and accommodated a group of 12 of us an hour and half after our scheduled reservation. The day of our reservation, our house lost power and all signal, and we weren’t able to contact the restaurant or any taxi services all day until we were moved to a new airbnb with wifi. At this point we weren’t able to get a cab until an hour after our originally scheduled reservation (and we had a large party of 12). The folks at Tu were so so kind to us and let us come late to the restaurant. They greeted us with free mezcal shots. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. We ordered 4 appetizers, at least 6 bottles of wine, and main courses for everyone and it only ended up being about $60usd per person, which we thought was incredibly well priced for the amount and quality of food we had. The restaurant is so cute with a little window to peak into the cooks in the kitchen. It also had great vegan options for our group. The risotto was one of the best risottos I’ve ever had in my life! Also, at one point, a musician came in and played us some live music, which was unexpected but fun. Thanks again Tu for a great last night of our trip!
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options“

“I love the place and its Mexican food?I am originally from the north of the country and as a good northerner I am something special when they serve me meat and here I didn't put any buts, the flank steak tacos and their freshly made tortillas? even the beans that they gave for free They gave me the seasoning from there, they are not the typical black beans from the south (nothing against it but it is strange that I eat them as a child) these reminded me of my land, I also ordered golden taquitos bathed in poblana sauce that ufff delii I left photos of taking the order a lemonade with little sugar and very kindly they served it to me just as it was
I ordered it since they prepared it on the spot, not the ones that already have the syrup and so, I will definitely return when I visit Tulum“

“Good, beautiful and affordable prices in Tulum. They have very good seasoning, very good service. It is located outdoors, it has fans. Although its location is very good, it is right at the intersection of the highway to Cancun and Cobá, so many trailers pass by, the experience does not diminish. Very good place for breakfast and it seems to have a good atmosphere at sunset.“

“Amazing!!
My family and I stopped by for breakfast, and everything was delicious. Authentic regional food w/roots from Veracruz. Staff was friendly and attentive-a family operated restaurant. We ordered breakfast; chorizo w/eggs, huevos rancheros, quesadillas, barbacoa, and carnita tacos. All was flavorful! Undoubtedly, I MUST TRY!!!“

“The flavor of the crusted shrimp and octopus tacos ARE... the best!!
Also the coconut shrimp!
The atmosphere is rich, a very pleasant patio and if you eat in the center there is also the other place, simpler but the flavor is just as good“

“Great restaurant in Tulum.
The restaurant is located off the tourist avenue of Tulum.
It is a restaurant serving Mexican specialties, very well made, at consistent and not prohibitive prices like the rest of the establishments in Tulum.
We highly recommend.
Great service, great meal“

Also high marks to the mole sauce which we enjoyed quite a lot also. Plan to bring any alcohol you want to enjoy with your meal as they dont serve any. Many thanks to the lovely hospitality we enjoyed here.“

“It's been almost a year since we ate at this little restaurant and I'm only publishing my review now, but I had to! To begin with, many restaurants in Tulum are expensive. But not this one, the prices are really affordable and everything is really excellent! The atmosphere is great, the employees were great and the boss was adorable! He even made us taste the dragon fruit for free. I recommend 1000%“

“simple, quick, effective, inexpensive. good food, good quality and really cheaper than all the tourist restaurants on the main street! 60 pesos for 5 tacos al pastor. Is it worth it ! they take 5% commission per payment by foreign credit card“

“The food is delicious, they specialize in seafood, 1 taco can cost you approximately 5 to 7.50 dollars depending on the exchange rate. The service was good, very friendly, the waiters give you some tortilla chips with a fish broth at home, the only drawback was that they brought me the wrong bill that if I were one of the customers who didn't pay attention I would have paid practically double .“

“The food here is exceptional. I’ve tried every restaurant in Tulum you want to try and this is the first and only one that I fell in love with. Every dish is truly magical and the prices are just perfect.

“A nice place to eat, they have a lot of variety and have good flavor, the only detail is that the bathroom is not in good condition, and in the end they charged us double for an order, so I recommended that they check their account carefully.“

“Love this small tapas restaurant on a side street in Tulum. My dining partner and I enjoyed fried calamari, Russian potato salad, a potato torta and marinated pork on skewers. Too full to order dessert, but in the past we enjoyed the chocolate bomb. Many items on the menu are Spanish inspired with the owner coming from Spain. The dishes are big enough to share, but also allow you to order 3 or more dishes without feeling over full. Every item is made to order and they use the freshest ingredients available.“

“On main Street, right across from ADO bus station. In prime are in Tulum Centro. We went here for breakfast, which was great with big portion sizes
They accept cards and can also communicate in English, so it's easier to order if your Spanish isn't that great.
The only downside is that they added 15% gratuity on the tip for a 2-person group. I haven't seen that with other restaurants in Tulum“
“Great ambience and incredible live music! I went to celebrate my birthday and had the best time ever. The food was amazing specially the dessert (mango chocolate cheesecake with rosemary) WOW. The place had such chill and great vibes, and everyone was super nice as well. Can't wait to go back!“

“The food was delicious and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The stone crab was fresh and flavorful but the corn texture was different from what I'm used to. The sauce flavor made up for it. The crab empanadas were huge and delicious.“

“90% of the restaurants in Tulum are establishments aimed at foreign tourists. And it is reflected a lot in the flavor and especially in the price. Try to look for places like this, where the majority who eat there are locals from Tulum. Probably the cheapest place where you are going to eat during your entire visit to Quintana Roo. Don't expect very sophisticated dishes or flavors. But very homemade food and seasoning. 100% recommendable.“

“We had limited opportunities to try some authentic and local Mexican cuisine while we were in Tulum so we put some time into researching our best chances of not being disappointed….and we weren’t. We had a quesadilla and sope and they ended up being the highlight of our trip. It is a bit difficult to get to because the road is horrendous, but it is absolutely worth the trip. And they are wonderful people which is never a small thing!!“
“Some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. One of our party members from our cenote dive recommended this place saying it was amazing and it didn’t disappoint. There was a line at the door but it only took about twenty minutes to wait through. Just check in with the front when you first get there to get on the list.“

“5 stars because I can't give 10. We have ordered the 7-burner board, a lot of quantity and all the meats are very rich and juicy. I haven't enjoyed dinner so much in a while. Awesome. And the treatment of the waiters Mariano and Jordi, perfect. Kind and friendly. It's nice when they treat you like that in a restaurant. Ah! And kind to the animals ;)) We will be back!“

“We went to Las Cazuelas on the last day of our trip despite not wanting another taco as we had eaten so many already. I'm so glad we went as these were may favorite tacos. I ordered the chicken mole and the flavor was sweet and so good. I loved the chile with cheese taco. The last one I had was the chicken and potato, which was also very good but the other 2 were my favorite. They had a toppings bar with lot to choose from. My mouth wanted to try another taco but I was too full. I highly ,highly recommend this place for variety and flavor of the tacos.“

“One of the friendliest places right near akumal, and it's not a tourist trap at all. Very delicious food, well prepared meats, clean, and the salsa hot sauces were fresh, unique and amazing. Great prices great food and really a great find. Ate there twice got breakfast burritos and coffee and everything was great!!!
Kid-friendliness: The waitress was fantastic when my kids needed to go to the bathroom she brought them upstairs. And little known fact when you go upstairs to the bathroom they actually have a room full of parrots right off of the balcony, beautiful birds really healthy well fed and well kept and the kids had a great time checking out the birds. The bathroom was also clean and will lit.“

“Food is delicious! In short, it is one of my favorite places in Tulum. With Tulum prices, but totally worth it. The only bad thing, the service. Be patient, in all the years you have lived here, it has always been the same whether there are people or not ? Literally half an hour for them to serve you or stop to ask for things at the bar/kitchen.Order everything in one order, because if you forgot something, it takes half an hour longer for them to bring it.Come early, it's so delicious that everything ends very early.I love that they serve drinks in glass containers and not in PET.“
“This family run place is warm with the people and relatively cool with the fans, even being right off the road. I ordered two carne tostadas, two carne panuchos, and a frijole empeñada. The total was 140 pesos and I could not finish them! I took the food to go on my ATV and everything was still perfect!! Y muy muy rico!!“
“The best tacos my girlfriend and I have ever had. We were lucky to walk past it on our way back to our Airbnb. Whether you’re in the hotel zone or staying around downtown Tulum.. make your way to El Tapir. This is not your instagram spot, but a delicious and authentic experience that should not be missed.“

“We had mixed feelings after our dinner in La Palapa. The food was amazing, but after we paid we just realised we had been tricked… of course, it was our fault as well not to realise on time, but in Europe it is not normal, that you have to check all the price and make your own calculations. Be careful, but worth to try, because one of the best food we got“
