“Restaurant that looks like the movie "Coco" due to the decor, very nice.
Mayan cuisine dishes, excellent aperitif.
The rest good, but only for once.
It is located just outside Tulum.
Ample parking.“
“Excellent Mexican-Asian fusion restaurant, with quite a lot of vegetarian options. Portions are a bit on the small side - we shared 4 dishes among the two of us. But this means you can sample more dishes ? Good drinks selection too and friendly staff.“

“Fantastic all around!!! These are the first cocktails in Tulum that I have loved after three nights. So fresh and strong but poured with intention.
And do not get me started on how delicious and thought out the food was!!! 10/10 I will remember this meal for weeks!!! The gnocchi & ribeye were to die for with flavor.
The servers were so attentive and transparent- this is a MUST in Tulum!“

“We stumbled upon this place by accident. Upon walking in I asked to look around and saw the amazing backyard. The hostess accommodated us even though it was a Friday and very busy. The service and everyone who came to the table-was the best I have had in tulum. The food was fresh, innovative and delicious. The atmosphere, music, ambiance and the coral was perfect. Watching the open kitchen was great. It was one of our favorite meals in tulum and a top five anywhere we have been. Go here and don't miss the corn ribs, dorado app and the crème brûlée pictured below.“

“Wonderful family run place with outstanding food! A downtown gem!!
We took our party of 18 here for a last-day group celebration to end our vacation in Tulum. It was a diverse group age-wise (kids to older adults) and tastes varied widely (from seafood lovers to steak lovers). There menu had something for everyone. Outstanding ceviches and fresh fish, wonderful guacamole and salsas and perfectly cooked, delicious steak picanha.
Drinks had very nice options too, from small batch tequilas, beer and wine to mixed drinks.
But the best part of this outstanding experience was the warm, fun and gracious atmosphere. You could feel the warmth of the owners and staff. Live music and just about as nice of a get together spot as one could ask for. Maybe the restaurant could add some fans as it gets pretty hot! Thank you for a memorable last meal on our trip to Tulum!!“

“I had to leave a review for this restaurant after they were so kind and accommodated a group of 12 of us an hour and half after our scheduled reservation. The day of our reservation, our house lost power and all signal, and we weren’t able to contact the restaurant or any taxi services all day until we were moved to a new airbnb with wifi. At this point we weren’t able to get a cab until an hour after our originally scheduled reservation (and we had a large party of 12). The folks at Tu were so so kind to us and let us come late to the restaurant. They greeted us with free mezcal shots. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. We ordered 4 appetizers, at least 6 bottles of wine, and main courses for everyone and it only ended up being about $60usd per person, which we thought was incredibly well priced for the amount and quality of food we had. The restaurant is so cute with a little window to peak into the cooks in the kitchen. It also had great vegan options for our group. The risotto was one of the best risottos I’ve ever had in my life! Also, at one point, a musician came in and played us some live music, which was unexpected but fun. Thanks again Tu for a great last night of our trip!
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options“

“What a gem of a restaurant! The decor is simple, but don’t get fooled—the menu is absolutely amazing. We had the plantain tacos, which absolutely blew our minds and a few other dishes. Even the cocktail menu is impressive, using bold flavors in a very unique way. Don’t be a fool, and don’t skip this place!“

“I went to this restaurant and had super delicious food, unbeatable service and they were very attentive to everything from my arrival, the divine watermelon juice and the grilled chicken with beans and rice ? the waiter Gonzalo was super kind to me. And they were quick to bring the food“
“This place has been around for a very long time. I don't know where all their prior reviews went, but they had hundreds of high reviews from people traveling between Tulum and PDC. Don't expect anything fancy or great service, but you will have some of the best cochinita pibil tacos around. That's all they serve; no carne "estrada", no nachos, no nothing other than cochinita. It's front and center where you can see it, and the tacos are made up front as well. Ask for your favorite beer or refreshment, then ask for three or four tacos. If you're out before the server comes back, just go over to where the tacos are being made and hold up 4 fingers for four more tacos. Simple as that. Quick, cheap, and delicious. Another heads up, they don't speak much, if any, English at all.“

“A Must-Visit in Tulum BAL NAK' offers an exceptional dining experience with its stunning jungle setting and top-notch service. The contemporary Mexican cuisine is both creative and delicious, with standout dishes like the duck breast and the chocolata clams . The cocktails are equally impressive, especially the verde jungla. For an unforgettable meal in Tulum, BAL NAK' is a top choice. Highly recommended!“

“The food is delicious, they specialize in seafood, 1 taco can cost you approximately 5 to 7.50 dollars depending on the exchange rate. The service was good, very friendly, the waiters give you some tortilla chips with a fish broth at home, the only drawback was that they brought me the wrong bill that if I were one of the customers who didn't pay attention I would have paid practically double .“

“The food here is exceptional. I’ve tried every restaurant in Tulum you want to try and this is the first and only one that I fell in love with. Every dish is truly magical and the prices are just perfect.
Back here 5 years later and this place has the same good prices and quality as before!“
“Great ambience and incredible live music! I went to celebrate my birthday and had the best time ever. The food was amazing specially the dessert (mango chocolate cheesecake with rosemary) WOW. The place had such chill and great vibes, and everyone was super nice as well. Can't wait to go back!“

“Nice staff, typical and tasty Mexican food at fair prices (MXN$ 150 - 300). It’s a good option if looking for a less expensive restaurant near the beach.
Remember that suggested tips are just that — staff will happily accept if you lower their

“El hotel es maravilloso y las instalaciones de lo mejor, nos encantó la alberca rodeada de vegetación. El staff muy sonriente, amable y servicial, la pasamos de lo mejor. Es un excelente lugar para una escapada en pareja o en familia, las habitaciones muy cómodas. Agradecemos la excelente atención de la recepción con Diana y Arumi, Jose nuestro Concierge atento en todo momento y Gilberto y su equipo de limpieza, muchas gracias por todas sus atenciones.“
“This family run place is warm with the people and relatively cool with the fans, even being right off the road. I ordered two carne tostadas, two carne panuchos, and a frijole empeñada. The total was 140 pesos and I could not finish them! I took the food to go on my ATV and everything was still perfect!! Y muy muy rico!!“

“Best Al Pastor on the main street of Pueblo Tulum. MXN 15 each. If you eat there, order 2 x 2 tacos at a time. That's how the locals do it and the meat is piled up high. If you order like 5 on a plate, they go e you roughly the same mean of 2 tacos. We ate here and took food to go about 4 times. Our go to for the area.“

“This was definitely the best food and best service we had on this trip. We got the BLT and the Tulum Bowl. Both had a lot of flavor and were fresh. The banana bread is amazing too. “Loved this place. Great prices for a central tulum restaurant, local beers (40/50 pesos) great margaritas (90 pesos), fantastic food. Great vibe. Loved the music, and loved the random street performers, as well as generally people watching from our table.“

“A very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Exorbitant prices (but you know). The two ceviches were good, except for the prawns drowned in a sauce that disturbed their flavour.
Out of two drinks, one very good and the other worth reviewing.“

“Visited Escama in Tulum, Mexico and here is my intake
Place looks nice and well designed for a bar/restaurant, with outdoor open seating.
Hospitality: I was greeted at the door , waiter was super nice and friendly. Recommended few items on the menu and drinks. Good job and keep up the good work.
Food: Ordered the guacamole appetizer because I love the freshness of Guacamole in Mexico. Came in a oversized bowl which kinda threw me off a little bit. It could be done a smaller one , not sure the purpose behind it.
Tuna Tostadas were OK, I've had better for less price. Presentation was beautiful. Tuna tasted plain. Tostada was not fresh and crispy like it supposed to be.
Dessert: work on bringing in some local desserts not just American. I ordered the Carrot cake, the icing is plain and too buttery.
Ambience, was boring for me although it was 5pm. A place like that should have better music. I would expect a ready open restaurant with that style.
Cons: Bring Off or mosquito repellent, I had to move on the inside glass room.
Restaurant has limited parking, so better come in Taxi or walking distance if you are staying by close.“

“Very delicious "Calde de Pollo" (Chicken Soup) for me. They created even a nice big vegetarian plate for my partner. The drinks: milk coffee was quite thin and luke warm and it seems the half liter cup of Jamaica juice, although very yummy, had too much tab water in it and caused stomach ache.“
“Typical high quality Mexican food. Dishes with local products but very well prepared. Fine and original flavors. The place is also very nice, for a romantic dinner or with friends. As very intimate with vegetation. Everything at ease. I highly recommend.“
“We have been 2 times. First time was perfect. Amazing prawns, perfect fish (sea bass) and very good Sauvignon Blanc. Great service. Second time, was OK too. Service not so caring but nice. Nearly gave it just 4 point - coz you can not see what you eat. It is by far to dark.“

“Good parking and good service, the sauces are very delicious and in general yes delicious and fresh, but the food is very simple, nothing out of the ordinary, for the prices they manage, they would have to raise the quality of the food preparation and the portions they handle.“

“I love the place and its Mexican food?I am originally from the north of the country and as a good northerner I am something special when they serve me meat and here I didn't put any buts, the flank steak tacos and their freshly made tortillas? even the beans that they gave for free They gave me the seasoning from there, they are not the typical black beans from the south (nothing against it but it is strange that I eat them as a child) these reminded me of my land, I also ordered golden taquitos bathed in poblana sauce that ufff delii I left photos of taking the order a lemonade with little sugar and very kindly they served it to me just as it was
I ordered it since they prepared it on the spot, not the ones that already have the syrup and so, I will definitely return when I visit Tulum“

“The fans are very strong, making your hair a mess, but it's better to have one lol.
Despite mentioning on Google that it closes late, in reality it is not quite like that. We went to celebrate our birthday and the dishes were collected and the bill arrived at the table for us to pay because it was going to close.
The food itself is very tasty, the prices are high, but it's a good place.“

“This is a fantastic place to visit for a quick and flavorful meal. The food is authentic, well prepared, and fresh. They have a good selection of dishes that are moderately priced. The service was good, and the order came out quickly.
We tried the Tacos and Tortas. The taco was served on 2 soft tortillas, and it was loaded with delightful minced pork. The Torta was super stuffed with carne Al pastor.
Both dishes were nicely seasoned and didn't have any hot pepper added. If you wanted some heat, you could add hot sauces from a condiment tray.
Overall, the food was tastey, warm, and well well received. If traveling in Tulum, you should check this spot out.“
“Very good drinks, very clean place, the bar is impeccable, the tables too. You can tell they take great care of hygiene. The place is quiet, very nice to go with friends or a couple who want an atmosphere but be able to talk without having loud music. The service is very good, the staff is very friendly.“

“I absolutely loved Fresco’s Tulum! The fact that the staff speaks English made everything so easy and welcoming. There were plenty of vegan options to choose from, and every single dish was delicious. The service was outstanding – everything was prepared very quickly, and the staff was so attentive and kind. “Good, beautiful and affordable prices in Tulum. They have very good seasoning, very good service. It is located outdoors, it has fans. Although its location is very good, it is right at the intersection of the highway to Cancun and Cobá, so many trailers pass by, the experience does not diminish. Very good place for breakfast and it seems to have a good atmosphere at sunset.“

“The flavor of the crusted shrimp and octopus tacos ARE... the best!!
Also the coconut shrimp!

“Stopped here on our self-guided taco tour. The family was so nice, with the grandmother and grandson bringing over games of chess and snakes and ladders to play with us as we waited. The margarita was the only semi-expensive item (and it was very nice and strong to make up for that), but the tacos themselves were cheap and delicious. Homemade tortillas. My favorite taco the pollo barbacoa. The juices menu looked really nice, but alas, it was margarita time.“

“A true delight, fresh, natural, unique flavor and the best service, you can eat in front of the beach or in the restaurant. It's not cheap but the food justifies the price.

“We stayed at the hotel near to Maia for 5 days and this was the easiest and best place for breakfast. We ate there 3 times and each time we were impressed and happy.
Keep in mind: prices were comparable to everywhere else on the beach (if you were expecting to pay less for food on the beach, I’ve got some hard truths for you), and the service was not always speedy. We started asking to pay when we received the food, which helped. BUT everything we ate and drank was delicious!
The mixed juices were so satisfying and fresh, everything was beautifully plated and well seasoned. Someone in that kitchen is really cooking!
We really only ate breakfast here, so I can’t speak to the other menus, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves
(Fruit plate, huevos cazuelas, chilaquiles, overnight oats, the smoothie-juices, molletes con chorizo, and the hotcakes with Nutella, fruit, guava jam and almond butter)“

“Great restaurant in Tulum.
The restaurant is located off the tourist avenue of Tulum.
It is a restaurant serving Mexican specialties, very well made, at consistent and not prohibitive prices like the rest of the establishments in Tulum.
We highly recommend.

“Such a great spot! Super friendly and attentive servers, great food and drinks, and a very amazing atmosphere. We tried almost every drink on the menu, including their extensive craft beer menu featuring over a dozen local and regional beers. Walkable from many of the newly developed Airbnb and hotels in the area, and a nice change of scenery from the main drag of downtown Tulum.“

“Delicious place to eat with excellent atmosphere and customer service. The super friendly and attentive manager. The place is spacious with seats and tables outside and inside. We ordered several tacos, a marlin and shrimp burrito (recommended) and a chilorio crust (super recommended). The taco we loved the most was the soft shell crab (one of our favorite foods on our entire trip). The portions are of good size. The drinks are also excellent with a great selection. We would definitely return.
