Oh it pains me to write this review as we’ve been going to Nine Mile as loyal customers for 14 years! We come here for every special occasion as the food is amazing. While we were waiting in line to get on the list my kids were simply hanging out next to the hostess stand, not even in the way and they were being very respectful. This hostess pictured below came over and told them to “MOVE!” and it really upset them both. We were all waiting so patiently and my girls both went outside and cried at the way she spoke to them. I decided to not eat there tonight because of this. Just so you know, that’s not how you talk to your customers. If you felt my girls were in your way you could have nicely said “hi girls! Do you mind standing over there?” We went to a restaurant down the street and when we went in the hostess there was so kind to us and actually talked with our girls and was so sweet. You need to learn to not speak so rudely to your customers.

This is my favorite Nine Mile location by far. It's less cramped feeling and way less of a wait than the other locations, and the staff at this location are so great!

Nine Mile South Asheville offers a unique Caribbean-inspired dining experience with good service, but falls short on flavor execution. The Nine Mile Jerk Chicken, featuring a grilled chicken breast, lacked the bold seasoning expected in jerk dishes. The portion sizes were underwhelming, with only one small grilled chicken breast in the dish. The Nolan, a shrimp and scallop pasta, was soupy and needed additional seasoning to enhance the flavors. Although The Raggy Road, a Cajun tilapia pasta, stood out as the best entree of the night, the overall Caribbean-inspired theme lacked authentic flavor. The drinks, including the Bob Marley special cocktail, Red Stripe, and Nine Mile Mexican Lager, added a touch of variety. The restaurant's decor, featuring local artists' work and a Bob Marley painting, added to the ambiance. While the staff provided good service, the overall dining experience did not meet expectations. For those seeking something different, Nine Mile South Asheville may be worth a try to see if it can elevate the dining experience. However, based on my visit, I was not impressed and would only return if in the area and craving a specific drink. Despite the shortcomings, the concept and decorations show promise for future improvements.

I was excited for weeks to take my husband to dinner at 9 Mile for his birthday. He loves spicy Caribbean food and we previewed the menu before our visit. We arrived fairly early, around 5pm, however there were no tables available for around 30 minutes, so we opted to sit at the bar to eat. For drinks, my husband enjoyed one of their IPA’s and I ordered the Painkiller, both of which were great. Our salads were fresh and the dressings were flavorful. We started with the pita & hummus for an appetizer, which was spicier than I expected, but was absolutely delicious. For our meals, I ordered the Mount Zion and my husband ordered the Back-A-Yard Bowl. Prior to ordering, I asked the staff member taking our orders if their jerk seasoning was spicy. She replied that it was not spicy at all and that you could order it as spicy as you’d like, explaining the different levels. My husband got the spiciest they could make and I just ordered the Mount Zion, since she said that the jerk seasoning was not spicy. I have severe acid reflux and was just looking forward to a flavorful meal. My husband absolutely loved his entree and I really wish I could say the same. I took one small bite of the tuna and ate one single piece of broccoli and it was so spicy it was completely inedible to me. It got worse though, I became nauseous and in a LOT of pain. When we asked for take away containers, the server asked if it was spicy enough for my husband (he replied that it was) and then turned to me and commented, “yours was a pretty spicy one too!” She then handed us our take away containers, then walked away. This was perplexing and honestly upsetting, as I’d specifically asked if the jerk seasoning was spicy and she’d said it was “not spicy at all”. The nausea and pain I experienced continued to worsened and four hours later I was still very, very sick and vomiting. As I write this, it is the next morning and I am still not feeling well. I realize that everyone has a different tolerance for spice/heat, but my meal was in no way, shape, or form “not spicy at all.” Thus, this is a mixed review. If you like your food HOT, this place will be a great experience for you. If you have acid reflux and prefer your food flavorful WITHOUT heat, opt for somewhere else.Vegetarian options: Tons of vegetarian and vegan options. Nearly every entree can be made veg. or vegan.Dietary restrictions: GF, DF options

Huge disappointment! This is not Caribbean food! Not even a good imitation. My noodles were swimming in water, no sauce. The salmon and jerk chicken were both cooked to death and dry. Entrees were flavorless. The only good thing we ate was the salad. The service was satisfactory. This place is overrated. The ambience is like a cafeteria. Never again!

Had an early dinner and the wait staff was not impressive! One hour and ten minutes to get the entree. When mine arrived, it was incorrect!

Had a great dinner. Easy to switch from meat to tofu and no cilantro! Gotta love that when it tastes like soap (to some of us).

Nine Mile is the place to go if you come to Asheville. They have 3 locations, and the food is out of this world. They even make tofu taste good!

The food at Nine Mile is unique from many other places in Asheville (and NC in general) and I’ve always loved what I’ve had there. The menu is large and can accommodate a variety of food needs/preferences, and I always feel satisfied after a meal there. Last time I went, the server was pretty short and cut me off a few times as I was ordering.

Food is great. One of my favorite places to dine at. However, on Halloween 10/31 and tonight 11/4, I could not place an order for take out. No place to order online, and they did not answer the phone. I tried calling multiple times over an hour.Very disappointed

Delicious food, all 3 dishes were great. Their sauces are wonderful. Even the salad dressings are unusually good.
