About Sonora Cocina Mexicana

Sonora Cocina Mexicana offers delicious food like enchiladas, fresh tacos, and the must-try queso with chorizo and EMPANADAS. The enchiladas are highly recommended, especially with the tasty Diablo sauce for those who enjoy spicy flavors. The shredded beef is considered the best by some, showing their expertise in preparing meat dishes. The restaurant is a great little downtown lunch spot or a quick dinner destination, especially if paired with a Margherita or the $7 sangria, which customers praise as incredible. The presentation of dishes like the burrito bowl impresses, with well-cooked rice and carne asada cooked to perfection. The friendly service, including attentive staff and welcoming hosts like Tim, enhances the experience. The homemade chips with Diablo salsa stand out, and the avocado salsa is noteworthy even without guacamole. The restaurant is kid-friendly, making it a good choice for families, especially earlier in the evening. Despite being in a popular downtown location, the outstanding food and service make Sonora Cocina Mexicana a go-to spot in Asheville, though there may be a wait on weekends.

Stumbled upon this place while hosting an out of town friend. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. Very laid back, nice atmosphere. We opted to sit at the bar for drinks & dinner. Tim was very friendly and answered a few questions we had about the menu. I had the Paloma and my friend had the Tequila old fashioned. Probably the best Paloma I've ever had. I tasted the old fashioned too, & it was amazing! Chips & salsa was really good- fresh, thick chips and a nice variety of...read full review

Great food. Love the rose infused tequila. Highly recommend.

Enchaladas where amazing! The diablo sauce is so tasty if you like spicy. The shredded beef was the best I ever had so whatever they do to that is perfect. Perfect little downtown lunch spot, or if you need a tasty quick dinner with a Margherita I suggest the Cadillac.
