Calabash Gourmet And Sushi Bar

I came here when I was visiting in the spring and absolutely loved it. So looking forward to coming back, but the meal that I had when I returned in September was just mediocre. I wonder if they got a new chef? I’ll probably give them one more try but not enthusiastically.

This was my first time at a Asian restaurant!
The food was amazing, I got one of the chefs specials. Kim, our waitress, was awesome!! She was super kind about allergy friendly dishes, and was very friendly to me and my family.
10/10 recommend and would return again ☺️

My wife and I decided to go to one of the best restaurants in this area for her birthday. We've been there a handful of times and we have gotten their carryout many times. On this night, I commend the staff for the best service ever! Vendy, our server, was amazing (a perfeect 10!). The best server ever. Thank you to everyone at Calabash Gourmet and Sushi Bar for making my wife's birthday so special!

Love, love this little gem. The waiters are so attentive and the service is fast. I visit this restaurant at least once a week and not once have I had a bad experience. From drinks to food everything is delicious.

The food at this restaurant can be hit or miss because the service is hit or miss. One of the wait staff brings the food on a cart and apparently waits until all the orders are ready to deliver the food to the table. This routine creates cold dishes of food if you happen to get this particular waiter. They also charge extra if they do not bring enough sauce on the meal in the first place and you ask for a little extra - such as on the general tso shrimp. They claim the sauces are made by hand - I assume that means they open a bag of food service sauce by hand and heat it up. When you're already paying $17 for a dish, it feels ridiculous to for them to charge extra to bring the dish properly with an adequate amount of sauce in the first place. The prices at lunch are better than the prices at dinner. There's an upcharge if you want anything except for white rice such as for brown rice or fried rice with any dinner meal. Unfortunately, there are few options for decent Chinese food at a decent price anywhere along the beaches of the Grand strand and into the Calabash region.

We ordered food through DoorDash. We got the blue crab Rangoons, pork egg rolls, the shrimp tempura avocado roll deep fried, and the general tso chicken with white rice.

Rangoons - very good, the sweet and sour sauce had a little kick to it nothing major, was great
Pork egg rolls - a whole lot of pork in these egg rolls, I love that it was almost completely pork with less of the other fillings
Shrimp sushi roll - this roll was good but it was 5 very large pieces, very thick pieces
General tso chicken - oh wow! This was the spiciest general tso chicken I have ever had. We like spice and a nice kick of heat but this was too spicy for us to eat, every bite was sizzling our tongues and burning our throats.

My wife and I eat here often. Our favorite dishes is General Tso's chicken. We also get sushi and or egg rolls and brown rice. The restaurant is clean and well maintained and the service is right on time.
