Acme is a difficult restaurant to review (based on at least 30 visits over 20 years) because they have much greater variance than other restaurants. Some of their dishes are truly superb and others are just plain losers. This means that you can stick to your tried and true or order something new, recognizing that it might be great or might be mediocre (or worse). The most recent visit is a good example. The grilled caesar sald was superb: nice char, creamy but bracing dressing,...
Don’t order the pear salad. The pears were hard and green. The pears should have been blanched. It only takes 2 minutes and they would have been softer to cut and chew. The lettuce and dressing were fine.
We happened upon this restaurant by accident. We were accommodated right away. The service was very good and the food was almost as good. The restaurant was very loud (all hard surfaces), so it was a rather vibrant atmosphere. Generous portions at reasonable prices. Be sure to make a reservation.\nI would definitely return, but probably not on a football Saturday night.
