Great authentic Mexican food!
OH MY WORD!! By far the best tacos I have had in Charlotte, so so good! I got takeout tonight, tacos - asada, al pastor (and I barely eat pork!) and grilled shrimp along with plantains (amazing!) and queso (guilty pleasure). The queso was okay but my bar for an authentic place is the tacos. AMAZING! It came with two salsas and I could have used more. Based on the reviews, Fonda Las Tarascas is a wonderful local gem and a little hole in the wall taco place located in the corner of a gas station parking lot. It is not a big chain, but a family owned business where the magic happens. The food is some of the best, most authentic Mexican, and the quality completely blows the other places in the area out of the water. The portions are great and everything is consistently delicious. Specific meals mentioned include the shredded chicken enchilada with amazing spicy salsa on the side and the queso. Instead of standard refried beans, they serve a different style of pinto beans packed with flavor. The salsa verde is also great. The service is fantastic, with incredibly sweet, patient, and welcoming staff. The customer service is excellent, and they have been known to bend over backwards to accommodate customers. There can be a slight language barrier on the phone, but communication is easy to navigate. The reasonable dinner prices make it a great value. This is a cozy restaurant with a very good selection of foods.
