50 Best Mexican Restaurants in Charlotte

“I suggested to our HOA board that we go eat at Que Onda after our meeting this evening. They joked that you have to take a loan out to eat there... prices have increased. Still, we enjoyed their food in the past, and we like to support local businesses in our community. First, no more chips and salsa when you sit down ... not even an offering. What Mexican restaurant doesn't have chips and salsa when you sit down? And for dinner I ordered a taco salad, sans beans, cheese and pico. I subbed rice and mushrooms. I was charged $9.95 for the shell and lettuce, $3 for rice and $4 for mushrooms. I have ordered this veggie alternative for years at several places - never have I been charged $17 for a "salad". Had the waitress mentioned the upcharge at the time I ordered, I could have made a decision to go ahead or to change my order. But she NEVER mentioned the additional cost. Sadly, they lost 3 local customers tonight, as well as being one of the catering / community meetup options we were just discussing 30 minutes earlier. Be fair. Be transparent. Discuss additional costs instead of simply charging and assuming your customers want to pay extra - again, I would have changed my order. Adios Que Onda!“

“My wife and I had dinner at the Charlotte location this evening. We had great service from our server Noah, who was very quick to take our drink order and provided attentive service for our entire dinner. We both ordered a Chimichangas (my wife had the chicken and I had the beef). Both were delicious, well seasoned and served hot. (fwiw) noted the staff were sweeping and cleaning the restaurant tables quickly, after a table turned.“

I always look for authentic restaurants cause that’s where you get the real flavor and freshness and this restaurant hit that on the spot. “Mal Pan is a pleasant surprise for our first visit and a gem of a restaurant in South Park. Stephanie was a pleasant and professional server. We appreciated Brad, the bartender's, professionalism in coming to our table to check to see how my husband prefers his martini prepared. We enjoyed sitting on the covered patio with fans and seeing people enjoying walking around the neighborhood. The food was well prepared and with good sized portions. We are looking forward to returning!“

“Recommend the enchiladas! They come covered in lots of sauce, and very generous portions. Very fast service as well. The only problem is this place is so good, it's hard to get a table! All the food is served to go style anyway, so it's not really an issue, but good to know ahead of time.“

“Frieda’s is an absolute gem! The menu is packed with tons of options, making it almost impossible to choose, but you really can't go wrong. Every dish was delicious and served in incredibly generous portions—you definitely won't leave hungry.

“I’ve been to many bars, talked to many bartenders, even took a couple home. Adan is my favorite bartender i’ve ever met! Adan is so kind and welcoming, he makes me feel like I made a friend. He’s so good at bartending he could make a 48 month chip holder at the AA get a drink. I love when he makes margaritas, especially the strawberry mangoneada! Holy smokes, Matador is a must visit in Charlotte purely for Adan. A perfect day is waking up on a day off, and getting a plate of ribeye tacos, and a shot of Ocho Tequila from my favorite bartender 😊“

“Amazing Amazing, as soon as you come in they greet you with amazing energy.. The waitresses are extremely friendly and helpful. Our waitress looked just like SZA’s sister. The rice bowl was perfect. If you look at my other reviews Im very honest. So Im not just hyping it up. Best one I’ve ever had. My wife had the tacos and she loved them. The Churro’s were not too sweet and really cooked well. This is one of the best Taco spot in charlotte and I’m a charlotte native. If you get a chance you should go and I guarantee you’ll love it.“

The al pastor and carne asada tacos are my go-to every time. The salsas are so good (and some are really spicy 🌶, so don’t say I didn’t warn you 😂). I haven’t tried the burrito yet, but it looks amazing.

The fresh tortillas taste authentic, and seeing lots of other Mexicans eating here is always a good sign. Overall, I’d give it a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out!“

“Our server Jason G. Was amazing, he helped my son n I with our meal selections and what great choices. the beef short rib tacos with the aujus sauce was so juicy and flavorful. And the burger my son said was delicious n packed full of flavor along with his chez fries! Our fresh quac and chips was great with my passion fruit Marg! Jason was very kind and chatted with my boy about our trip into the city and made sure to take great care of him and his time at dos carminos!
