I'm from Nashville and moved to the Carolinas three years ago. My favorite thing is discovering the "hidden" gems. I enjoy, places to eat and main attractions, in the city. Lauren's is a gem. I was in awe of the moving black and white civil rights images, upon entering the cafeteria. I had the baked turkey wings, yams and cabbage. It was good soul food. There's lots to choose from and I will definitely be back!
Delicious food and great staff. I also loved the ambiance of this place! It kind of reminds me of a southern church banquet minus the church service. It's also very family friendly. I'll be back!!!!

I purchase the food to give to someone else. I purchased two meals. One of the sides for one meal was yams. I asked for the yams to go in a separate container. The person said, "so the yam juice won't spill over on the other food." Yes. To my surprise when paying they did not charge the meal plate for this dinner.. I was charged individual prices. I was told that when I asked for the yams on the side, I wasn't told that and it's extra for lemonade. Tea or soda comes with the meal...read full review
