“I’m not a foodie influencer, but I love vietnamese food. i don’t eat meat so knowing a place has a vegan option is always great. I used to go here all the time when it was Vietnam Grille, I didn’t realize they reopened under a new name until last month. The staff is so passionate, their vegan options have so much flavor and I can’t think of another place in Charlotte where every vegetable is so fresh. The waiter took the time to explain their meat substitute is made in house, that’s so cool! 100% underrated and one of my favorite places and I’m not normally someone to leave reviews“

Banh mi bread was nicely toasted and crunchy on outside soft on instead, ingredients were very fresh.

“This place should be more obvious because it was AMAZING. I usually go to the tea house across the street for banh mi but they are closed on Wednesday but I really had a hunger for one. This restaurant is literally right across the street. Don't let the appearance deter you, the most unassuming things and places can surprise you. i had the grilled pork and it was by far the best banh mi I have EVER had. If you are spending less than $10 (which is really easy to do) then bring cash for the courtesy of the owners so they aren't hit with stupid over charges. Otherwise cards are fine. Will definitely be coming back.“

The staff is always accommodating ( we added 4 extra people at the last minute), they were so friendly bringing up an extra table & chairs. “I’ve been coming to this pho restaurant for years, and it never disappoints. The portions are generous, the flavors are incredibly rich, and the food is always fresh. Their fried egg rolls are hands-down the best I’ve ever had — super crispy and packed with flavor.

The service here is consistently amazing. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always makes you feel welcome. The restaurant is also very clean, which makes the whole dining experience even better.

“I had lunch here on 1/7/22 and it will be my last time eating at this restaurant unless changes are made. The restaurant was slow with only us and one other table at time. A 3rd group of 3 came in with a dog. The server asked if it was a service dog and the guest replied yes and offered to go back to the car and get the dogs vest. The server said they didn't need that but made them sit by the garage door and continued to ask them questions about the dog and if they had some type of ID or card as proof. He then opened the garage door while it was 47 outside. Everyone in the restaurant was cold, one couple got up and moved and we just wrapped things up without finishing our lunch but especially that group who was now basically left sitting outside. They tried to explain what was and wasnt allowed when it came to service animals and were nice to the server and told him they understood when he said he was new and would need to ask the owner but he just kept saying this is what his owner told him he had to do and left the huge door open and everyone in the cold. They ended up leaving, then the server came around and tried to blame them for the poor treatment and said they were using offensive language.. ( the restaurant is tiny I was only 1 table away and they were very nice the whole time even when they expressed their disappointment in the way it was being handled they were not rude) This isnt the way anyone with a service dog or any sort of handicap should be treated. We wont be coming back until this place can figure out how to treat people fairly and with dignity and respect.“

“We usually order through DoorDash & have picked up from the restaurant a few times. The Pho Chicken and Green Curry Noodles are our to-go-to favorites…along with a side of Edamame. My 7 1/2 year old daughter and myself truly enjoy the yummy, delicious, comforting, like-Grandma-made-it Pho. It’s like an incredible chicken soup broth that has been simmering for hours with the perfect flavors. We each customize the toppings we want to add to our Pho and level of flavor and spice along with our noodles. It’s always been delivered and packed meticulously, consistently, generously and with particular care & attention. The Edamame has always been fresh and on-point. My other favorite is the Green Curry with Noodles. The broth is again sooo yummy, just the right amount of medium spice and the veggies & tofu always fresh and plenty. The noodles and optional toppings packed on the side are also a great addition to the rest of the dish. I honestly always have a difficult time deciding between the two dishes, especially because my daughter loves the Pho so much that she won’t share with me!

The friendliness of the staff inside the restaurant and the cleanliness & coziness, would be reflective of their food. We are eager to try other dishes from the menu, it’s just that the Pho Chicken & Green Curry Noodles have been soooo good that we crave them & don’t want to order anything else! It also satisfies my daughter’s “K-Pop Demon Hunters” ramen, noodles, themed nights…and she loves the Edamame. I sometimes add a little side salad with Ginger Dressing for her :-) There is surely enough Pho left over for me…or for the next day.

My only other honest comment would be that the one time I tried the Pad Thai, the cook on the noodles wasn’t to my taste. The dish was all a bit too overcooked and a softer texture than I prefer my Pad Thai to be. It may just have been that particular evening, or that authentic street Pad Thai differs from what I’ve been accustomed to.

“My adult son loves Akahana. We ordered sushi rolls because they are always Bogo. They were good and plenty. The fish in and in the rolls tasted fresh. We lived in Tokyo for a year and have authentic sushi to compare. Oishi desu!!! The spicy, not hot, just flavorful edamame were outstanding. Felt like a well-worn diner, but don't put your chopsticks away on that count! We will go again.“
