“Was craving GHANIAN jollof (because each country makes it different) so I went to mama gees and I was not disappointed! Took about 20mins after placing the order. I got a large portion of rice that could feed two people. The chicken combo comes with two drumsticks and the meat combo comes with two pieces of meat so don’t be surprised. Also plantains is included. It tasted just like I imagined but I do wish it was spicier. All in all I’m happy and will return on the weekend to try other dishes.“

“I want to address the negative comments about the wait and price.
Its true if you order on a Saturday they will say it's a 30 min wait and in reality it may be an hr and yes that is annoying especially with not much seating but patience goes a long way. This is not a fast food place or a place with huge staff please come with time to wait.
Yes its true a plate here is 20 dollars with no drink and that is a bit steep. But again this is a small business they do not get huge discounts on inventory like a Wal mart and they have to import the ingredients from overseas.

This is one of my favorite places and if you come with your expectations managed that this is not an American food chain then I think you will have a good experience. This is the definition of a mom and pop shop owned by hard working people and they make the best west african hot food in Charlotte full stop. No americanized jollof on wheelz mess. There's a reason their egusi soup sells out every single Saturday. Please do not let the negative comments stop you from giving them a try and seeing for yourself. Thanks.“
