“Don't listen to any review that gives 3 stars and below. Yes, it's vinegar based, so is the slaw. People, food, atmosphere are great. I travel an hour from Union County to come here, well worth the trip. Quaint, nothing fancy. I don't know how anyone can say overpriced. The Jumbo Plate is $11, I'm a big guy, and it satisfies me very well.
Update 8/23/2026
I still love this place. I now live 84 miles away and just made the 90 minute drive with my brother. I will never hesitate to find an excuse to drive out to Shelby for some Red Bridges.
The prices have increased over time, but so, so worth it.
Anyone that gives them less than a 5 Star Review has an issue.
They have never failed to deliver a great NC BBQ experience.

“Today was my first visit in the cafe after hearing such great things about it! Our waitress Mikayla was wonderful! The cafe was packed - as it was lunch time.. but she kept our drinks filled and kept us updated on our foods time to come out! Food was great and service was 11/10!“

“I like that this place has a smaller selection because the food doesn’t sit as long. Their food is almost always fresh and flavorful. The service is mediocre, but not bad. The crab rangoons are excellent because they aren’t all wonton with no filling. The isles do get crowded, and handicap accessibility is limited.
Wheelchair accessibility: Narrow isles make for difficult maneuvers.“

“Very nice bar and extremely clean. Really good bloody marys. I definitely recommend. My husband got the dinner special and I had an appetizer. We split them and still had leftovers. I went back by myself today just for a spicy bloody mary. Brittany was great!!!“

“I'm giving 5 stars for the service but only because of the server who stepped in to help us while our server went out to be on her phone. She was walking out as we were walking in. We sat at a table and waited and waited, about 15 minutes. A nice girl noticed we hadn't been helped yet while others who's servers were working were being waited on even though they just walked in. She was great, our food was great. Then who was supposed to be our server walked in and yelled at the girl who took care of us. She literally only gave us our check. The other girl did everything. 35 years in the industry and there's always that one who is a bully! Oh n btw we gave the girl a $10 tip and left a $2 tip for the thoughtless server. You need to be a bit nicer to those who help you.“

“My grandparents love this place. The food is usually good but there have been some lackluster cases. Service is great. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a golden corral. The atmosphere is colder during the day but warmer at night. There could definitely be some better management choices. The staff are extremely friendly and I can't stress that enough.“

“First time at Sumo Sushi & Hibachi and we had a really great experience!
It’s a smaller spot, but clearly very popular there were a lot of takeout orders coming in while we dined in, which says a lot about how busy they stay.
Our server Zo was amazing. Super attentive, friendly, and on top of everything without being overbearing. She really made the experience even better hey Zo, you rock girl!
We ordered spring rolls, shrimp fried rice, and the Monica roll. Everything came out fresh and was really good. Only thing I was missing was a little chili oil for some extra heat, lol.
The only thing I would note is I wasn’t informed about a credit card fee before paying I may have missed it, but I did notice my total change when I went to sign and had to ask about it.
Overall, still a solid first visit and we’ll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.“

“Overall I would recommend this restaurant for good quality take out American Chinese food. The food portions are generous for the price. The food was well prepared and tasted great. The restaurant is a little run down and the service was fair as the lady taking the order seemed rushed and not vert friendly. I wouldn't consider eating in at this restaurant as it seemed a little unclean and disorganized. I was very happy with the food and was done as ordered . I would definitely order from them again in the future because the food was awesome and affordable.“

“Best shrimp sauce also has the tastiest spring rolls which are not on the menu but iykyk and homemade duck sauce that is slammin. This place is the best Yamatos hands down. Never had one bite of food that wasnt satisfying. The owner is super sweet and them Mexicans can cook like yo momma.“

“My favorite pizza spot. The crew is super nice and friendly. I come at least once to twice a month to get my chicken buffalo pizza. Soooo good and it taste fresh the next day for breakfast heated in the oven or not. Love love love 🤌“
