“We stopped in for the Talk bar incidentally as visitors from out of state. Our bartender Matt knocked it out of the park! He was so pleasant, social, and accommodating. He listened to our drink desires and created cocktails for us that were better than anything we could have ever dreamed of. We come from a town with a few swanky cocktail bars that “customize” drinks. They don’t hold a candle to the creations Matt has up his sleeve. PLEASE stop here and visit this man and this bar!“

“We hosted our baby shower here this past weekend and I can’t rave enough about the entire venue! To start, Kelli was an amazing communicator from the start. She made everything very clear and was super flexible with our preferences. The room itself was so lovely, spacious, and they assisted with all the tables and food setup. Speaking of the food…it was incredible!! I thought it would be good but they surpassed our expectations! We had mini chicken & waffles, shrimp & grits, mini chicken salad and cucumber sandwiches and a bruschetta. Everything was setup so beautifully and the full bar was a hit with our guests! The bar tender even made a signature cocktail named after our baby’s nickname (so cute!) If that’s not enough, they also assisted throughout our shower, serving, helping our guests, cleaning up. Speaking of cleaning, they do basically everything, it was just so wonderful! I can’t say enough about Kelli and her team and I highly recommend The Shaffner Inn as an event venue!! Also, a few of our out of town guests stayed at the Inn and they could not stop bragging about the rooms, service, and the staff overall. We were so pleased!!!“

“We had the best dinner we have had since moving to North Carolina. However, the service was not that great. After being seated we were ignored for 20 minutes. No water, no contact, nothing. Finally got a server and the she took our order. Had to wait another 15 minutes for a drink and then more wait for the meal. The food was excellent. The music was a bit too loud but it was classic and smooth jazz. People were friendly and atmosphere was good. We will definitely try it again.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Young Cardinal Cafe and Co. in downtown Winston-Salem, and I am beyond impressed. This gem has truly mastered the art of brunch, blending classic comfort food with delightful modern twists. The eggs were cooked to perfection, embodying that delicate balance between creamy and fluffy. However, the true star of the show was the thick-cut candied bacon. Each bite offered a sublime combination of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors that left me wanting more. The biscuit and gravy were nothing short of heavenly; the biscuit was light and fluffy, while the gravy was rich and flavorful, providing a comforting hug in every bite. The hashbrowns, generously topped with onions and cheese, were a delightful addition to the meal. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they were the perfect side dish. Young Cardinal's "build your own grits" option was an unexpected highlight. With an array of fresh and delicious toppings to choose from, this customizable dish catered to my every craving. And let's not forget the fried chicken. Well-seasoned and perfectly fried, it was tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious. This dish alone is worth a visit. Whether you're stopping by the coffee bar for a quick espresso while you work or sitting down for a leisurely family brunch, Young Cardinal Cafe and Co. offers a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional food. It has undoubtedly become my new go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. Five stars, without a doubt!“

“I’ll be honest, I’ve never been to Philadelphia, some say that’s a good thing, some say I’ve never had a true Philly Cheesesteak.
But I’ve got to handle it to the chef, the Big Winston Cheese was incredible and it’s everything I imagine wanting in a Philly cheesesteak.
The bread was warm with a light crunch, but the bread still soft.
The meat was seasoned and sliced just right.
The flavors were amazing. Might be a bit spicy for this far north but coming from Texas it was heaven (disclaimer - I “added chipotle” after a recommendation which may have added some spice)
10/10 would recommend“

“Awesome little bar on Burke St! The place has a good vibe to it and attracts plenty of people. The cocktails are great and the bartenders know their stuff! We enjoyed sipping on cocktails while hanging out on one of the many comfy couches. The kitchen makes a nice charcuterie board, too! Check it out!“

“Incredible atmosphere and food!! Super cozy. Almost feels like you’re in England or something. You order food in the Market and then can eat and drink in the bar across the hallway. Highly recommend! Will be back!“
