Where is the 6th, 7th, 8th star and so on. Five stars just don't seem like enough. This is local culinary magic. The aroma of smoked meat just tickled my taste buds with Nostalgia. I gotta go back. Gotta go for Rib Night on Thursday, then Brisket night on Wednesday. I mean damn I could just sit in there drinking a cup of water and get hungry from the aroma of someone's foot all in that food. Yeah I'm going back and of you don't go guess what, YOU PLAYING YASELF

This is the best bbq in the Raleigh Durham area. Don't be fooled by the small size and humble decor. Johnson's is delicious. The owners take pride in their bbq craft and often stay up all night to smoke the pork the traditional way. If You're looking for good pork, you won't find any better than right here.

Everything was tasty and came real quickly. I'm definitely visiting again. SIDE NOTE: THEY ARE CLOSED SUNDAY & MONDAY.

Great BBQ in a small informal spot. Johnson Family BBQ is adjacent to a gas station. If not for the fairly small sign, and the delicious aroma wafting across the parking lot from the smoker, you might just drive right by this place. It's small - 6 tables inside plus 2 picnic tables outside. Lots of regulars at this place, many people are greeted by first name and a "how are y'all?" It's an order at the counter, they bring it to the table place. It's a standard BBQ joint menu - pulled pork, pulled chicken, smoked chicken on the bone, wings. Plus all the classics as sides. They offer brisket on Weds. And brisket it is! The lunch plate includes a sizable portion of meat, hush puppies and 2 sides. I opted for slaw and collard greens. The brisket was very good. Thick sliced, nice and lean. The bark wasn't as charred as would have been perfect, but the meat was moist, tender and smokily flavorful. A cup of sweet tomato-based bbq sauce accompanied. Collards were excellent... Slow cooked, tender, well seasoned with a little kick. Slaw thick chopped and slightly sweet. Plus crunchy, moist and delicious hush puppies. Wash the whole thing down with sweet tea... There you have the classic NC BBQ experience! $10 for this great plate, including the drink. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu... Recommended.

My wife and were driving back from Wake Forest this evening and had a craving for some BBQ , googled local BBQ and found really good ratings for Johnson's. It was getting close to their closing time so I called first to make sure it was not too late (8:40pm or so) and the lady there said come on so we did. Sure glad she said that ! BBQ/chicken and sides were delicious. BBQ has some charred ends which gives it that awesome smoky flavor, hush puppies were crispy and tasty, spicy sauce on the BBQ chicken was so good I asked for some for the BBQ too. The food alone is a good enough reason to go there in and of itself but the service was what was outstanding. As I said , it was after closing and we were trying to finish the generous servings in a hurry so we wouldn't hold them up but they
