OK, so I try to support black owned businesses. I was in town this weekend visiting UNC Chapel Hill with my son. Ordered pick up from this restaurant. Breakfast. Again, I say breakfast. Most breakfast items require butter. They bring up my food and tell me I'm sorry we're out of butter. How in the world can you be out of butter? You're a freaking restaurant. Then when I said how can you be out of butter she says to me, we only include butter when you ask for it. So now you're contradicting yourself. I placed my order online there was no option to add butter. I asked her how could I have added butter online? She just continue to apologize to me. I should've listen to the other reviews when they mentioned that this place is always out of some thing. I won't return. Update: the owner responded to my review to apologize. I truly appreciate it when business owners take your concerns seriously. I hate that I had to drive around an unfamiliar town looking for butter when they had some in the back. The food was good, I will admit. I may return.

Delicious breakfast food for the soul. We had the waffle combo and an omelette with potatoes. We loved it and can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Oh, and everyone was so friendly at pick up!

We've driven by this strip mall plenty of times but finally decided to stop by Nzinga's after watching a local video about the chef/owner. We came on a Saturday morning after our usual run to the Durham Farmers Market. Their menu is not huge but there's enough variety. I think they're also only open a few days a week, so make sure you check first. They have a large menu posted outside, and you can either order online or place your order with a staff member seated at the front. They are not doing seating during COVID, so everything is takeout. I got a breakfast biscuit with sausage, egg and cheese, and my wife already ate so she just got the strawberry lemonade. We placed our order and stepped outside until the staff person notified us it was ready. The biscuit was probably the softest I've ever eaten -- it practically fell apart when I tried to remove one side to salt and pepper it. Prices were reasonable We'll have to come back and explore their other Cajun offerings.

French toast was to die for. Probably the most unique and most delicious french toast I have ever had. I also really enjoyed the sweet potato biscuits and the cajun grits. My only note would be the packaging of the grits. The lid had a hole for a straw so the grits got in the bag, and because styrofoam isn't good with extremely hot things, when transferring my leftovers, there were pieces of styrofoam breaking up onto my food. Of course with grits, this was challenging. Overall the food was extremely delicious and I would highly recommend. I just wish the would have packaged the grits differently.

So disappointed in the food today Saturday feb 27! No flavor in any of it and for the prices you charge it's unacceptable. This was the last time going.! I'm so disappointed the food is so inconsistent the flavors that you were known for are not there every week or on the days you're open. And to me you should not serve food if you cannot maintain the level and the quality that you started out with. Unfortunately, that's the problem sometimes with supporting BOB's you go up on your prices and go down on your quality sorry but I can't come back. It's more important to have returning customers than making a lot of $ all at once. Sorry that was the 3rd strike.

I went here during the summer time and the food was delicious but the wait to pick up the food was very long even with me calling in my order in advance. The French toast was insanely delicious though and the hot honey tenders were also amazing. I wasn't that impressed with the Mac and cheese, but I will definitely come back for the food again!

This was our first visit to this Nordstrom Bistro though we have been to others in other states. We order the pulled pork and mac and cheese and the chicken goat cheese panini. Both were very good. The fries with the panini were outstanding! The meals were a bit pricey. The meal delivery person was very friendly and helpful. We recommend the bistro and will return.

This spot is offering take out during COVID. I ordered the fish meal with 2 sides; mac & cheese and yams. It also came with a yeast roll and cole slaw. Since I grabbed it on my way home from work the fish was a tad soggy from how it was packaged togo. But it was still delicious, I would love to try eating here once they open the inside. I'm sure the food is better when its pipping hot.

I've eaten here 6 times since December 2019. I'm not much of a menu explorer so 5 of the times I ordered the griddle combo with red velvet french toast, sausage, and scrambled eggs. All 5 times, i ordered red velvet and was told about 30 minutes later that they had no red velvet, so I've always only been able to get plain, which is usually pretty good. I understand that that happens but not 5 times in row, and not always at least 30 minutes after ordering. That should be known when taking the order. The one other time l, ordered the wing lunch combo with double mac n cheese as a to go order. I waited inside for again about 25 minutes for them to tell me they didnt have wings. So they gave tenders instead. The mac and cheese looked good but turned out to just be greasy and unseasoned and the grease from it was spilled all inside the bag my food was in. Each time i've gone here the service was always subpar and they were always out of something: sweet tea, red velvet, wings, etc. Its like this restaurant is never prepared.

So, coming off the road driving for Uber, you need a good place to stop for energy food. One of my driver friends suggested this spot, and since I'd never been here before, I figured I'd try it... First and foremost...PORTIONS. When you come in here, they feed you just like any Southern grandmother would - one plate should have you good for the rest of the day. In the spirit of trying something new and different, I opted for the French toast and chicken (waffles have been done already, you know)...and the plate that came out was steaming, and sumptuous. I was almost afraid that I wouldn't finish - except that I was starving... So, the French toast was made with Italian bread in a cross-cultural mashup - with great results. I haven't had it that light and fluffy inside, ever. And the chicken was fried lightly enough to crunch, but well enough for you to see the spices poking through. You know, I wish I'd taken pictures, but the food came out so quickly after I ordered, hunger just took over my hands. Forgive me. Even better, come here and take your own pictures...if you can keep your hands off the food...

I came on my lunch break as a group of 4, and I really enjoyed my meal and the service. The only complaint I have would be the wait time. I had gone on an hour lunch break, and had to rush to eat. I would recommend coming here when you're not pressed for time.

I was excited to visit . Upon arrival I knew it was where I wanted to be for breakfast. It felt at home , warm and easy going on a Saturday morning. Menu looked good and I was ready to eat. I loved the ambience and feel of The Neighborhood. My coffee was amazing, skimpy cups gonna keep the refills coming. I waited however about 30 minutes after ordering to get my food. The placed wasn't packed so my hunger was increasing, but in a good way. The food came and it refused to be the star of the show. The waffles weren't hot, not sure what the salmon cake was posing as and the eggs left little to be desired. I was surprised to receive French Toast in three long slabs of baguette bread. Maybe the A Team wasn't in the kitchen. I would love to go back but now I'm on the fence. Almost feel like I Played Myself...smh. Kudos to my waitress, she was pleasant, made recommendations and checked on us frequently keeping our skimpy coffee cups full. I'm daring Nzinga's Cafe to be greatY food

BESTTTTT BREAKKFAST EVER. Visited Durham for the weekend and found this spot on yelp. Reviews weren't that promising but the food made up for it. Location of the restaurant and the look inside wasn't all that, but it definitely felt like a homey place. Serves were great and attending and the food was delicious. Would definitely come back.

The location is pretty obscure, but I'm glad we came here. My mom and I ordered an omelette and shrimp and grits. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, but the grits were a little runny and under seasoned. The omelette was good, especially the side of potatoes. The service was excellent. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for a casual and inexpensive brunch.
