Welcoming,diner style cafe. I had the dirty bird special. It featured a crispy chicken filet on top of a biscuit with cheese. It is then topped with sausage gravy and a side of fried potatoes. Would definitely recommend and the prices are reasonable.
The dirty bird breakfast special and the shrimp & grits were delicious! Charming, friendly staff were attentive. Good coffee and sweet tea. A great place to enjoy breakfast or brunch!

Stopped at Colonial Cafe in Elizabeth City, NC, and I’m glad I did! I had the Dirty Bird breakfast with local sausage, crispy taters, and the kind of gravy you just don’t see much anymore—thick, flavorful, and loaded with chunks of sausage. Absolutely delicious. Perfect little hometown spot and an amazing stopping point on the way home from the Outer Banks. Highly recommend!
