“Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! I just stopped for a late lunch and ordered the Heirloom tomato and steak salad weekly special. Everything including basil, buratta and the local heirloom tomatoes were so flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The chimichurri was the perfect combination to this seasonal salad. It’s so nice to enjoy such amazing food right here in Downtown Elizabeth City where I live-Hoppin John’s is always the greatest place for southern food and hospitality!! “No frills Japanese restaurant that I have been completely & truly enjoying since BEFORE 9/11.
The ambience has never changed & I take great comfort in walking in and ordering the steaming miso soup, a side salad, tempura veggies & my most favored dish. It's akin to visiting an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, and you pick up right where you left off!
Service is very prompt, courteous and always helpful if you're interested in trying a dish or side you've never tasted before.

All emphasis is on the cuisine(succulent, & truly authentic) and the ever stellar service. No matter if I sit at the sushi bar, dine in, or take out, the food is always what I seem to need & ever delectable!”

“This place is a hidden gem and has come a long way since my first visit. You can definitely see the difference with the new team—they genuinely care, and it shows in the service and overall experience. The food is really good; some of my favorites are the Bold & Tangy Burger, Bourbon Street Pasta, and the Roast Beef Cheddar Melt. Shout out to the owners as well—I’ve seen them step in and help when needed, which says a lot. Overall, I highly recommend this place.”

“Des G (Desiree) (I hope I didn’t spell that wrong) is literally the best waitress I’ve ever had. And the girl who works the bar & does the Togo orders, she moves so quick and she’s always on point!!! Desiree went out of her way to make lunch great for us. She even turned up my favorite song on the intercom!!! Like literally give her raise! $2 $3 $10 … holiday bonus! If she requests days off give it to her!!! One of the best places to eat. Tip the cooks and waitresses!!! Lovvvve them! 10/10!!!”

“Moved down to the area a year ago from the tri-state, I have been on the hunt for good pizza, and that means cheese,sauce and good tasting crust. I got a plain cheese pie(pizza) and a eggplant Parm sandwich. I must say it was very good! I will definitely be back to try some more menu items.”

“We have been several times now, and the food and service are 5 star quality. We mostly get breakfast food, and of all it the pancakes and waffles seem to be the favorite with our group. The staff are fast and efficient but still very friendly. We will be back as often as possible.”

The one by my place has some of the best employees. No joke.
Everyone is knowledgeable. Everyone is friendly. I have yet to see any worker in a bad mood. Inside the building is clean. The outside & gas pumps are too. It sure helps the shopping experience.
Besides, the deli has great food & I am addicted to the frozen choclate/caramel cappuccinos!”

“I highly recommend Andy's Pancake & Steakhouse! If you haven't eaten here yet, you are truly missing out on both the food and the service. I had the Sausage Dandy Omelette (sausage, bell peppers, and onions), and it was cooked to perfection. The French toast was also absolutely delicious—it soaked up the syrup perfectly and was just "melt-in-your-mouth" good. The service was fantastic; the staff is so friendly and attentive. I was checked on constantly and never had a moment where I wasn't able to enjoy my coffee or tea. The atmosphere is calm and wonderfully old-fashioned—it reminds me of "yesterday" in the best way possible. A 5-star experience all around!”

“With good food and good service, the only thing holding this place back is atmosphere. The building is tired. And the floors inside really don't have any excuse for being as dirty as they are. The white tiles are yellow and black from dirt, grime and probably leftover barbecue sauce. I know what I'd do if I owned it!”

“My husband & I have been traveling to Elizabeth city mon-fri for 13weeks for work. We have eaten at City grille every single week we have been down there. We have loved most of the food we have tried. Some of my favorites would have to be the Ham, turkey, bacon club sandwich , the city grille burger, the slaw, fried okra & Mac n chz & the carrot cake is the best I've ever had. My husband doesn't even like carrot cake & he loves it. We usually do take out but the staff has been absolutely amazing. So nice, thoughtful, & accommodating.”

“I really love coming here every now and then. The service is always friendly, and recently I discovered that this location did not have military discount. The cashier at the window saw I was a veteran and gave me a senior discount in place of it since I assume it's not an option. It's always nice to be reassured there are folks here that love and care about active duty/veterans. This is our go to place when we decide to eat out.”

“Food is pretty decent but tastes just like any other Chinese food restaurant. They suddenly started charging extra for Hot and Sour Soup, which is my favorite and all other soups except Egg Drop and Wonton that I don't care for. Guess I'll be going to another Chinese restaurant that charges the same for all soups from now on.”

“After seeing some bad reviews I figured I see for my self. With other places in town not good at all I was very hopeful this place was good. It did not disappoint. We ordered multiple different things and they all were perfect. Placing the order over the phone was easy. Check out was done by I assume the owners child but she was super pleasant and knowledgeable.”

“Very nice staff took them only 5 minutes to unload my trailer, they was shock to see how fast I got my truck back into the dock , it only took me less than 5 minutes to back from on the street into their gate and bump the dock they told me every driver comes their it took other drivers about 30-40 minutes to back in from the street I told them experience comes with the job if you get out the truck and observe what you have to do it should be easy backing in from the stree. The customer is rite next to a gas station on the same side”

“My dad and I pulled up, I ran in, grabbed 2 ready 2 go pizzas, and we were gone in a matter of minutes. The pizzas were hot and delicious when we got home, later that evening, and even for breakfast. The place was clean and the staff was nice and friendly.”
