“Definitely a “hidden gem”! Stopped for a quick lunch while just passing through Camden with my toddler, had a wonderful experience! Plenty of food for what you pay, and the staff is so attentive and courteous. I’m always a bit nervous taking my toddler out to eat because he is WILD, but the staff was so friendly and helped accommodate my son. Will absolutely be back!”

“i’ve been seeing this place for a long time and decided to stop in with my son. The employees were so friendly and nice helped direct me on what to pick. I’ve never had Boba before and they let me try it to see what type I would like, didn’t know there was more than one type of Boba. She updated me on how everything worked in different things that I could try really everything is completely customizable. They also have a lot of coffee options, which is great for a quick grab. We also tried little cake bites that were pumpkin flavored tasted amazing and I personally got the Thai milk tea with strawberry poppers, chefs kiss and my son got the swamp water with boba their special. The atmosphere was really nice and relaxing in there. They had games for us to be able to play it was a cute little getaway date for me and my son. I am going to definitely plan to have my girlfriends meet up here one day so excited we tried this place and definitely will come back”

“Fresh, Fresh, Fresh! I just stopped for a late lunch and ordered the Heirloom tomato and steak salad weekly special. Everything including basil, buratta and the local heirloom tomatoes were so flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The chimichurri was the perfect combination to this seasonal salad. It’s so nice to enjoy such amazing food right here in Downtown Elizabeth City where I live-Hoppin John’s is always the greatest place for southern food and hospitality!! “No frills Japanese restaurant that I have been completely & truly enjoying since BEFORE 9/11.
The ambience has never changed & I take great comfort in walking in and ordering the steaming miso soup, a side salad, tempura veggies & my most favored dish. It's akin to visiting an old friend you haven't seen in awhile, and you pick up right where you left off!
Service is very prompt, courteous and always helpful if you're interested in trying a dish or side you've never tasted before.

All emphasis is on the cuisine(succulent, & truly authentic) and the ever stellar service. No matter if I sit at the sushi bar, dine in, or take out, the food is always what I seem to need & ever delectable!”

Let me tell you about the pizza nightmare we’ve experienced over the last four years of living in Elizabeth City. 😂 I didn't think to take a picture - we ate it all- boom there you go!

We consider ourselves pizza aficionados (yes, we have standards). We like a good sauce, not an obscene amount of cheese, and a crust that can actually fold when you need it to—but also one that, when you hold it by the crust, doesn’t droop like an old man’s eyelid. 😂

Over the past four years, we’ve tried our fair share of pizza places in Elizabeth City, and every one seems to have had something that just didn’t work for us. Too much cheese. Wrong sauce. Soggy crust. You name it.

Now, we aren’t the people who bash restaurants or leave negative reviews just because something wasn’t our cup of tea. If we’re going to take the time to say something, it’s because it’s GOOD—and, more importantly, CONSISTENT.

And Barley’s? Three visits in, and they’ve delivered every single time.

The wings deserve a shout-out too! These aren’t those weakling, baby-chick wings that leave you wondering where the actual chicken went. 😂 They’ve got some meat on them, and the hot flavor has just the right kick.

Now, you’re not going to Barley’s for fancy ambiance—and honestly, that’s perfectly fine with us. We like our house. We pick up our food, put on the game, and eat exactly where we want. 🍕🏈

So, without a doubt, we are officially happy to report:

WE LOVE BARLEY’S.
