The food was excellent. Our waitress was new so there were a few hiccups to be expected. My only complaint is how loud the resturant is. You had to yell across the table in order to be heard. Even my children commented on how loud the resturant was.
Ok wow! I read reviews but take many with a grain of salt. Everyone has bad days. BUT...the reviews were stating truth. This place needs to get their stuff in order. One waiter is scolding another for seating people with reservations. Claiming there was a wait list although no one was waiting and reservations should be the priority anyway. Once seated, after waiting 10 minutes, we got some bread and water. Bread was very tasty, but no one asked what we'd like from the bar. We had no place settings. A table that came in after us got their drink order taken. But it was a blessing in disguise because right after, a table walked out after waiting over 45 minutes for food. Another two tables were on the verge of leaving. Also having waited over 45 minutes. The chef came out and spoke to the wrong table about an issue. We took our queue and broke the heck out too. Food looked decent, but until they get their stuff in order, it's a place to only visit if you are in absolutely no rush.
We were greeted with smiles, received excellent service from our waitress, Cara, and the food was simply amazing. If you're looking for authentic flavor & taste, Giovanni's is your new favorite Italian spot! Love, love, love! Thanks Giovanni's! We'll be back!
We were visiting from out of town and wanted a nice Italian dinner. The food was fantastic, our waiter was great, the ambiance was very nice.
The waitress was very nice and the Italian food great (don't order steak at an Italian restaurant)...There were 8 of us. We had $200 in gift certificates that I personally purchased in June. When it came time to pay the $335 bill, the waitress came back and said we could not use more than $100 of them. The waitress was clearly mortified and we didn't want to add to her stress so we didn't argue about it. Giovannis was THE PLACE in the 80s and later with real Italian owners. The new owner does not compare to the original owners and seems very inept at managing this restaurant. Sad to see this to such an icon of a restaurant.
. Service was terrible. 35 minutes to take our drink order. The waitress was obviously high on something. The food was okay. Very disappointed...
Our waiter seemed very confused the whole night with what we ordered and the restaurant was not busy at all. I took me and my girlfriend there for a nice weekend date and we were really excited for it but was quickly let down. Don't be fooled by there EVERYDAY special Of 2 pasta dishes for 35$ because apparently everyday does not include weekends. The food was not bad but we did go there for that special we were little disappointed when we were told it's not offered on the weekends. If you like Italian food I'd recommend the food it's not bad but if you like good food and good service find your self going somewhere else.
Everything was very good, and I would have given them a five star rating, but, we not offered any grated parm with our meal! First Italian restaurant I have ever been to that did not offer parm...
Terrible experience. No staff. Had to get my own drinks. Food was horrible. Owner argued with us about our complaints. Charged us for the incorrect items. Would not recommend.
Best pizza in the area.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in Greensboro. Food is incredible, service is great! Would highly recommend.
I don't get some of the negative reviews to each it's own though .Me and my wife went there the other day and everything from the reception to the end of the meal was 5/5. Nothing negative to say food was spot on thanks chef and waitstaff will definitely return !
Not a great place to eat if you’re wanting a “taste from Italy”. Will NEVER go back and be aware the waitresses charge you more and write in on your receipt when you leave. Definitely check your bank statement when you leave.
Everything was amazing. Even the house salad is full of fresh cut cheese and cucumbers. I come for the Lobster Ravioli . The best I anywhere I have eaten.
Accurately, I give Giovanni's a 4.5, but only due to pricing. Our waitress, Cara, was phenomenal at attentiveness, consideration, and kindness. While waiting for our appetizer, Cara brought us a free salad due to waiting moreso than usual. For the appetizer, we ordered the Lamb Lolipops, which were good, but the quantity was not worth the price (it cost more than the entrée, without chicken added. About six bites). The entrée of choice was Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken added and it was the best I've ever had; worth it. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu, which was also great. The atmosphere was classy, lighted perfectly, and clean. As mentioned previously, the only reason I won't accurately give Giovanni's a 5 is simply due to some of the overpriced menu items. This place is nice and I'm sure we'll be back, hoping Cara will be our waitress every time.
