“They make beautiful and delicious cakes!“
“We Drove over from Charlotte to have a quick getaway and celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We stayed at The O'Neil hotel which is an old bank that they turned into a small hotel right across from the Chef and the Farmer. Now having been there I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else if you are doing an overnight. The first night we were in town we had dinner at The Boiler Room which was so so good! Following dinner that night we went over to the bar at Chef and The Farmer and had cocktails and desserts. My wife is more of a desert person than me but it was delicious and I was excited that the bar had Pappy Van Winkle bourbon which can be pretty hard to find. We spent the next day checking out the town which includes some nice little shops and Mother Earth Brewery all on the same square block as Chef and the Farmer. Our dinner that night was excellent. I was excited to see that they had Tom Thumb on the menu because that was one of the shows that was memorable to me and it was cool to connect the two. Portions were very generous and service was fantastic. Ben was there too and it was really cool to connect with him and see him walking around greeting tables. He also has amazing artwork which you can purchase right off the wall! Overall it was a fantastic experience that I would strongly recommend you do. We will certainly go back again. What they have done to revitalize an otherwise small and uneventful eastern NC town is nothing short of amazing and awe inspiring. Sorry for the long review that lacks details specific to the food but I feel like the entire experience we had is what makes the food more than just another good dish.“

“This place is wonderful, with delicious food and the nicest people I have ever met.
Their French Toast and Cinnamon Roll French Toast are unbelievable. Both the bread and the cinnamon rolls are made in-house. Make sure you get their condensed milk and butter syrup for them.
You can try the French Toast Mr. Yoder's way and lather it up with some peanut butter on one side and pour on the syrup made in-house.
Their Dutch Potatoes (basically Hashbrown Casserole) are the most top-notch stuff on this earth. No one has come close to it.
Don't forget to try the pie's. Their lemon and chocolate are hands down the solid contenders here. The lemon tastes like the girl scout Lemonades with the icing on the back side that they sell here in the area locally, but cold.
This is a wonderful place for a family meal and worth the hour plus wait to get a table.“
