The greeter was unfriendly. Food and service slow and mediocre. The waiter took our credit card and took forever to return it. A few days later, we found our card was used for unauthorized purchases. This was the only place we used this particular card. If you choose to eat here, only pay in cash. We won’t be back.
We returned to Nags Head for vacation after a 20 year hiatus. During the the 10 years we previously vacationed in the Outer Banks, the Rundown Cafe was always a favorite place to go. I loved their Hummus and many other menu items. We decided to try it out again, but on this visit we were very disappointed. The staff is attentive and goes out of their way to please, as seen with their help to a family with a child. New owners are doing a great job, with Crystal and Ben keeping customers coming back every week. The Sunday Bloody Mary’s are unmatched at the beach, and the food from the kitchen is second to none. While service can sometimes be a little slow, especially when the parking lot is full, the overall experience remains positive.
