Rundown Cafe Reviews
The greeter was unfriendly. Food and service slow and mediocre. The waiter took our credit card and took forever to return it. A few days later, we found our card was used for unauthorized purchases. This was the only place we used this particular card. If you choose to eat here, only pay in cash. We won’t be back.
We returned to Nags Head for vacation after a 20 year hiatus. During the the 10 years we previously vacationed in the Outer Banks, the Rundown Cafe was always a favorite place to go. I loved their Hummus and many other menu items. We decided to try it out again, but on this visit we were very disappointed. The menu has changed, with many items not offered anymore, including Hummas. I ordered an appetizer (crab dip) for our table and specifically told the server we wanted...read full review

Rundown Cafe offers great food, friendly staff, and stunning ocean views from its top deck. The staff is attentive and goes out of their way to please, as seen with their help to a family with a child. New owners are doing a great job, with Crystal and Ben keeping customers coming back every week. Popular dishes include blackened tuna bites, crab balls, and coconut shrimp, along with Fried Chicken Mondays. The Sunday Bloody Mary’s are unmatched at the beach, and the food from the kitchen is second to none. Lucas, our server/bartender, delivers stellar food and drinks, with the shrimp Alfredo being particularly praised. The cafe also features special kid meals, plus frisbees with their meal, making it a great spot for families. Many visitors enjoy the fish burrito, which was good but a little over the top in price. Kaya at the front desk was helpful, arranging for pan seared fish instead of shared grill due to food restrictions. The location is convenient to the beach, and the atmosphere includes great music and friendly service. Guests often praise the hush puppies with their fish and chips, which are amazing. While service can sometimes be a little slow, especially when the parking lot is full, the overall experience remains positive. The cafe continues to impress with delicious food and fantastic service, ensuring a great dining experience for families and beachgoers alike.
